Terpenoid Indole Alkaloids from Winchia calophylla
Journal of Natural Products, 2005Three new indole alkaloids, N(4)-demethyl-12-methoxyalstogustine (1), 17-carboxyl-N(4)-methylechitamidine chloride (2), and 17-carboxyl-12-methoxy-N(4)-methylechitamidine chloride (3), along with 15 known alkaloids, were isolated from the ethanolic extract of the stem bark of Winchia calophylla.

Terpenoid indole alkaloids from Mappianthus iodoides Hand.-Mazz.
Phytochemistry, 2014Ten terpenoid indole alkaloids, mappiodines A-C and mappiodosides A-G, together with eight known compounds, were isolated from stems of Mappianthus iodoides Hand.-Mazz. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including 1D, 2D NMR, MS and CD methods. The ten compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity, but were inactive.

Terpenoid indole (TIAs) and β-carboline alkaloids (BCAs), such as suppressant reserpine, vasodilatory yohimbine, and antimalarial quinine, are natural compounds derived from strictosidine. These compounds can exert powerful pharmacological effects but be obtained from limited source in nature. the whole biosynthetic pathway of TIAs and BCAs, The Pictet-

Biosynthesis of the therapeutically valuable terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAs), in the medicinal plant Catharanthus roseus, is one of the most elaborate and complex metabolic processes. Although genomic and transcriptomic resources have significantly accelerated gene discovery in the TIA pathway, relatively few genes of transcription factors (TFs) have

Alkaloids of Terpenoid Origin (excepting indole alkaloids and ergot alkaloids)
1998A large number of alkaloids are based on terpenoid structures. In most instances, the source of the nitrogen is not established, but the remaining portions of the molecule typically arise via the pathways leading to the various groups of terpenes.

Microbial allies: exploring fungal endophytes for biosynthesis of terpenoid indole alkaloids
Archives of MicrobiologyTerpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAs) are natural compounds found in medicinal plants that exhibit various therapeutic activities, such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-helminthic, and anti-tumor properties. However, the production of these alkaloids in plants is limited, and there is a high demand for them due to the ...

Abstract Two cell lines of Tabernaemontana divaricata derived from the same suspension culture were compared with respect to their biotransformation capacity. One is a high indole alkaloid-producing culture which accumulated mainly O-acetylvallesamine. The other cell line biosynthesizes terpenoid indole alkaloids in much lower amounts.

Transcription factor (TF) gene clusters in plants, such as tomato, potato, petunia, tobacco, and almond, have been characterized for their roles in the biosynthesis of diverse array of specialized metabolites. In Catharanthus roseus, three AP2/ERF TFs, ORCA3, ORCA4, and ORCA5, have been shown to be present on the same genomic scaffold, forming a ...

Metabolic engineering of terpenoid indole alkaloid pathway in Catharanthus roseus
Planta Medica, 2013Eukaryotes such as higher plants have evolved to produce a diverse range of low-molecular-weight secondary compounds that can be used as food and feed additives, flavours, fragrances, cosmetics, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. The dominant role of secondary metabolites in the pharmaceutical industry is demonstrated by the fact that approximately 50%

Transgenic hairy roots of R. stricta were developed for investigation of alkaloid accumulations. The contents of five identified alkaloids, including serpentine as a new compound, increased compared to non-transformed roots. Rhazya stricta Decne. is a rich source of pharmacologically active terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAs).
