Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Les mécanismes de repliement des protéines solubles [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2000
Mechanisms of folding of soluble proteins. The function of a protein is carried out by its three-dimensional structure. The rules for translation of the information encoded by DNAinto an amino acid sequence are well known.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Base pair probability estimates improve the prediction accuracy of RNA non-canonical base pairs. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2017
Prediction of RNA tertiary structure from sequence is an important problem, but generating accurate structure models for even short sequences remains difficult.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Crystal structure of (N1-benzyl-N1,N2,N2-trimethylethane-1,2-diamine-κ2N,N′)dichloridomercury(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
In the structure of the title compound, [HgCl2(C12H20N2)], the HgII atom has a distorted tetrahedral coordination sphere defined by two tertiary amine N-atom donors, as well as two Cl− anions [the dihedral angle between the N—Hg—N and Cl—Hg—Cl planes is ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

The Prediction of Tertiary Structure of RNA Based upon Secondary Structure by Using the Relaxation Method and Texture Mapping Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2013
In this paper, we propose a method to predict tertiary structure of an RNA sequence. Our prediction method would first find the secondary structure of the given RNA sequence.
