Molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial-resistant commensal Escherichia coli strains in a cohort of newborn calves

open access: yes, 2005
Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) was used to investigate the dissemination and diversity of ampicillin-resistant (Amp(r)) and nalidixic acid-resistant (Nal(r)) commensal Escherichia coli strains in a cohort of 48 newborn calves.

Detection of the phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of antibiotic and chlorine resistance Escherichia coli isolates from municipal and industrial wastewaters

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment
Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains in the gut of human harbor wide range of antibiotic resistance genes. Studying resistance determinants in E. coli at the genetic level is very important for understanding and possibly controlling the resistance. Treated

Enhanced Electron‐Capturing by Single‐Atomic Iron on Pyridinic N‐Deficient Carbon Drives Self‐Oxidative Degradation of Pollutants

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Pyrolysis of FeOx/g‐C3N4 and ZIF‐8 is performed to introduce Fe single atom and pyridinic nitrogen vacancies onto N‐doped carbon. This modification enables the materials to efficiently extract electrons from ciprofloxacin (CIP) and activate dissolved oxygen. 100% of CIP was degraded within 1 min without adding any oxidant.

Integrated Solvent‐Catalyst‐Dopant Strategy via Acidic DES for Synthesizing Lignin‐Derived Carbon Dots With High‐Quantum Yield to Achieve Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Tetracycline

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A deep eutectic solvent (ChCl/pTSA) platform enables integrated solvent, catalyst, and dopant functions, producing sulfur‐doped carbon quantum dots with a high sp2‐C content (82.8%) and a quantum yield of 56.9%. When combined with TiO2, the CQDs form TiOC and TiOS interfacial bridges, achieving 97.3% tetracycline photodegradation with excellent ...

Recent Perspectives on Phytochemical Profile, Pharmacological Activities, and Industrial Applications of Guava (Psidium guajava)

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Psidium guajava leaves contain potent bioactive compounds like quercetin, myricetin, and triterpenoids that show antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti‐inflammatory, and anticancer effects. They act by modulating NF‐κB, PPARγ, and α‐glucosidase and by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.
