Tetrahydrocannabinol and dopamine D1 receptor

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
Dopamine, a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator, is primarily released by dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain, particularly in the substantia nigra and the ventral tegmental area (VTA). Dopamine is known to have 5 receptors which are D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5, which are further categorized into 2 families: D1 family and D2 family.

Analytical Approaches to Address Challenges in the Analysis of Cannabinoids in Vascular Matrices Using Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Phytocannabinoids are bioactive metabolites derived from the Cannabis sativa plant. They have garnered attention due to their recreational uses and therapeutic potential. Although various analytical strategies have been employed for their analysis, mass spectrometry (MS) coupled to chromatographic separation is superior due to its sensitivity ...

Disposable screen printed sensor for the electrochemical detection of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in undiluted saliva

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2016
BackgroundCannabis has an adverse effect on the ability to drive safely, therefore a rapid disposable test for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), the psychoactive component of cannabis, is highly desirable for roadside testing.ResultsA screen printed ...

Documented End‐of‐Life Preferences of People With Parkinson's Disease or Parkinsonism Across Europe

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonism are characterized by motor and non‐motor symptoms. As the disease advances, planning for end‐of‐life (EoL) care becomes increasingly important. However, consensus‐based European guidelines for advance care planning and documentation of EoL care preferences for parkinsonism are lacking ...

Development and validation of reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol in oromucosal spray from cannabis extract

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Farmacognosia, 2018
A simple, fast, precise, accurate and responsive high performance liquid chromatography method was developed and validated carefully for determining an amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol.

Gray Matter Volume Loss in Parkinson's Disease Psychosis and Cannabinoid Receptor Gene Expression in the Brain

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Serotonergic and dopaminergic pathways are implicated in Parkinson's disease psychosis (PDP), but preliminary evidence also implicates the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Objectives We examined the association of gray matter volume loss in PDP patients with brain expression of the genes coding for CB1 (cannabinoid type 1) and CB2 ...

Effects of Transition Metals (TM = Nb, Ta, and Zr) on Thermodynamic and Electronic Properties of Advanced (Th1−xTMx)C (x = 0.1 and 0.2) Fuels: A First‐Principles Study

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
First‐principles study reveals Zr‐doped ThC maintains superior thermal conductivity and rigidity; Ta‐doping induces structural softening, whereas Nb enhances covalent bonding. These atomic‐scale insights guide the design of advanced thorium‐based nuclear fuels with tailored thermomechanical properties.

Nitroxide‐Mediated Polymerization Synthesis of Geminal Bisphosphonate‐Functionalized (Co)polymers and Their Affinity to Hydroxyapatite Surface

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
A novel styrenic monomer bearing gem‐bisphosphonate groups is synthesized in a single step. The nitroxide‐mediated (co)polymerization of this monomer proceeds in a well‐controlled manner, yielding bisphosphonate‐functionalized (co)polymers with low dispersity.
