Effect of Tetrazolium Salts on Selected Bacterial Species.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1960
SummaryThe influence of 5 tetrazolium compounds on growth of various bacterial species is reported. Gram negative organisms are more resistant to the inhibitory effects of these compounds than are the gram positive organisms. The ditetrazolium salts are more lethal to the bacteria than are the monotetrazolium salts.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Use of the tetrazolium salt MTT to measure cell viability effects of the bacterial antagonist Lysobacter enzymogenes on the filamentous fungus Cryphonectria parasitica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Despite substantial interest investigating bacterial mechanisms of fungal growth inhibition, there are few methods available that quantify fungal cell death during direct interactions with bacteria.

Engineered Bacteria Factory Integrating Drug Delivery and Antibody Manufacture for Activating the STING Signal Pathway Mediated Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To address the limitations of protein‐based ICIs in applications, this study constructed an engineered bacterium, HRB, capable of expressing aCD47 in hypoxic TME. Through the Schiff base reaction, responsive liposomes (LC) loaded with the STING agonist cGAMP were connected to the surface of bacteria to form HRB@LC.

Analysis of s-triazine-degrading microbial communities in soils using most-probable-number enumeration and tetrazolium-salt detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A simple and sensitive method for the detection and enumeration of microbial s-triazine-degrading microorganisms in soil was designed. The procedure is based on the ability of some microbes to use s-triazines, such as simazine, atrazine, and cyanuric ...

Measuring the response of human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma to irradiation in a microfluidic model allowing customized therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Radiotherapy is the standard treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), however, radioresistance remains a major clinical problem despite significant improvements in treatment protocols. Therapeutic outcome could potentially be improved

Surface‐Bound Superoxide Radical‐Mediated Photo‐Fenton Mineralization of Ciprofloxacin on Fe‐Sillenite Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically compares the degradation efficiency of CIP in a H2O2‐alone system and a novel Bi12FeO20‐H2O2 photo‐Fenton system. It reveals for the first time the presence of a quinone‐imine intermediate in the H2O2‐alone system, which exhibits toxicity comparable to CIP.

Cultural methods of detection for microorganisms: recent advances and successes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Most microbiological methods require culture to allow organisms to recover or to selectively increase, and target organisms are identified by growth on specific agar media.
