TGFβ1 signaling via αVβ6 integrin
Background Transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) is a potent inhibitor of epithelial cell growth, thus playing an important role in tissue homeostasis.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) in non‐small cell lung cancer display pronounced plasticity and spatial heterogeneity. By integrating single‐cell and spatial transcriptomics, this study defines a DSG2‐associated CSC program and reveals a tumor‐margin niche formed with FAP+ myofibroblasts.

Systems theory of Smad signaling
Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-beta) signalling is an important regulator of cellular growth and differentiation. The principal intracellular mediators of TGF-beta signalling are the Smad proteins, which upon TGF-beta stimulation accumulate in the ...

BACKGROUND: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) accounts for 80% of the thyroid malignancies that are characterised by slow growth and an excellent prognosis. Over-expression of SMAD4 protein restores TGF-β signalling, determines a strong increase in anti-proliferative effect and reduces invasive potential of tumour cells expressing it.AIM: The study ...

Advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma metastasis is driven by a FOXC2+ tumor subpopulation. These cells execute vasculogenic mimicry for dissemination and secrete LAMA4. LAMA4 engages macrophage ITGA6, activating the STAT6/GATA3 axis to polarize macrophages into a pro‐metastatic, immunosuppressive phenotype.

TGFβ signalling plays an important role in IL4-induced alternative activation of microglia
Background Microglia are the resident immune cells of the central nervous system and are accepted to be involved in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases.

Cytoplasmic PML promotes TGF-β-associated epithelial–mesenchymal transition and invasion in prostate cancer [PDF]
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a key event that is involved in the invasion and dissemination of cancer cells. Although typically considered as having tumour-suppressive properties, transforming growth factor (TGF)-β signalling is altered ...
