Phosphorylated Trehalose Suppresses the Denaturation of Myofibrillar Proteins in Peeled Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) during Long-Term Frozen Storage

open access: yesFoods, 2022
The protective effects of phosphorylated trehalose on the quality and characteristics of peeled shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) were determined. Quality changes in treated samples were evaluated by assessing the physicochemical properties of myofibrillar ...

Mycobacterium tuberculosis sulfurtransferase SseA is activated by its neighboring gene product Rv3284

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tuberculosis remains a global health challenge and new therapeutic targets are required. Here, we characterized SseA, a sulfurtransferase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis involved in macrophage infection, and its interaction with the newly identified protein SufEMtb that activates SseA enzymatic activity.

Melting and unzipping of DNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Experimental studies of the thermal denaturation of DNA yield a strong indication that the transition is first order. This transition has been theoretically studied since the early sixties, mostly within an approach in which the microscopic ...

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Protein O‐glycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique O‐glycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a species‐specific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.

Low resolution NMR spectroscopy: a tool to study protein denaturation: I. Application to diamagnetic whey proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A method using low resolution NMR spectroscopy is described for investigating whey protein thermal denaturation. The method is based on measuring at 20 °C changes in water proton transverse (T2) relaxation parameter following the denaturing treatment ...
