Acetate Production by Moorella thermoacetica via Syngas Fermentation: Effect of Yeast Extract and Syngas Composition

open access: yesFermentation, 2023
Gasifiers produce a gaseous mixture of CO/CO2/H2, also known as synthesis gas (syngas), containing varying compositions and ratios depending on the lignocellulose material types, gasifier design, and gasification conditions. Different physicochemical and

Effects of phenyl acids on different degradation phases during thermophilic anaerobic digestion

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Aromatic compounds like phenyl acids (PA) can accumulate during anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic wastes due to an increased entry of lignocellulose, secondary plant metabolites or proteins, and thermodynamic challenges in degrading the benzene ring ...

16S rDNA-based analysis reveals cosmopolitan occurrence but limited diversity of two cyanobacterial lineages with contrasted patterns of intracellular carbonate mineralization

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2014
Cyanobacteria are mainly thought to induce carbonate precipitation extracellularly via their photosynthetic activity combined with the nucleation potential of exopolymeric substances. The discovery in microbialites of the alkaline lake Alchichica (Mexico)

Redirecting a Native Ene‐Reductase Toward Desaturation With Reverse Enantioselectivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A native ene‐reductase, XenA, was repurposed to catalyze the reverse‐enantioselective desaturation of cyclohexanones. The final variant was obtained through extensive protein engineering, combining PROSS‐guided computational design with mutagenesis and screening.
