Inhibition of Threonine Dehydratase Is Herbicidal [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1994
Threonine dehydratase, the first enzyme in isoleucine biosynthesis, catalyzes deamination and dehydration of threonine to produce 2-ketobutyrate and ammonia. An antimetabolite, 2-(1-cyclohexen-3(R)-yl)-S-glycine (CHG), inhibits the plant enzyme. CHG inhibits the growth of Black Mexican Sweet corn (Zea mays) cells and of Arabidopsis thaliana plants. The

Identification of Protective Amino Acid Metabolism Events in Nursery Pigs Fed Thermally Oxidized Corn Oil

open access: yesMetabolites, 2023
Feeding thermally oxidized lipids to pigs has been shown to compromise growth and health, reduce energy digestibility, and disrupt lipid metabolism.

Synthesis of Threonine Dehydratase in Neonatal Rat Liver [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1980
Antiserum against rat threonine dehydratase has been raised in rabbits. The rate of incorporation of [H]leucine into threonine dehydratase was found to increase dramatically after birth. Actinomycin D suppressed the rate of the synthesis of the enzyme in the postnatal rat liver, although the antibiotic was without effect on the incorporation of leucine

The crystal structure of D-threonine aldolase from Alcaligenes xylosoxidans provides insight into a metal ion assisted PLP-dependent mechanism. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Threonine aldolases catalyze the pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent cleavage of threonine into glycine and acetaldehyde and play a major role in the degradation of this amino acid.

Mice have a transcribed L-threonine aldolase/GLY1 gene, but the human GLY1 gene is a non-processed pseudogene

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2005
Background There are three pathways of L-threonine catabolism. The enzyme L-threonine aldolase (TA) has been shown to catalyse the conversion of L-threonine to yield glycine and acetaldehyde in bacteria, fungi and plants.

The role and proteomic analysis of ethylene in hydrogen gas-induced adventitious rooting development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) explants [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2020
Previous studies have shown that both hydrogen gas (H2) and ethylene (ETH) play positive roles in plant adventitious rooting. However, the relationship between H2and ETH during this process has not been explored and remains insufficiently understood.

Efeito de diferentes relações treonina: lisina digestíveis, suplementadas ou não com glicina, sobre a atividade enzimática em pintos de corte Effect of different digestible threonine: digestible lysine ratios, with or without glycine supplementation, on the enzymatic activity in broiler chicks

Crystal structure of a UDP-GlcNAc epimerase for surface polysaccharide biosynthesis in Acinetobacter baumannii. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
With new strains of Acinetobacter baumannii undergoing genomic analysis, it has been possible to define regions of genomic plasticity (RGPs), encoding specific adaptive elements. For a selected RGP from a community-derived isolate of A.

Evolution of biosynthetic pathways: a common ancestor for threonine synthase, threonine dehydratase and D‐serine dehydratase. [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal, 1986
The Bacillus subtilis genes encoding threonine synthase (thrC) and homoserine kinase (thrB) have been cloned via complementation of Escherichia coli thr mutants. Determination of their nucleotide sequences indicates that the thrC stop codon overlaps the thrB start codon; this genetic organization suggests that the two genes belong to the same operon ...

The Cysteine Desulfurase IscS Is a Significant Target of 2-Aminoacrylate Damage in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesmBio, 2022
Pseudomonas aeruginosa encodes eight members of the Rid protein superfamily. PA5339, a member of the RidA subfamily, is required for full growth and motility of P. aeruginosa.
