Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments

Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.

Abstract Cervical insufficiency (CI) is characterized by spontaneous dilation of the cervix in the absence of painful uterine contractions in the mid‐trimester, leading to premature delivery. It is responsible for up to 20% of second trimester pregnancy losses, mostly <24 weeks.

Frequency and Associated Factors of Clotted and Hemolyzed Samples in South Gonder Hospitals, Ethiopia: A Multicenter Cross‐Sectional Study, 2023

This study, conducted in South Gonder hospitals in Ethiopia, investigated the prevalence and causes of clotted and hemolyzed blood samples submitted for hematological testing. The findings revealed a high rate of sample quality issues, with significant associations identified between pre‐analytical factors like collection technique and sample integrity.
