Role of nitric oxide, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and endothelins in lung cancer: An overview. [PDF]
Lung cancer is the most frequent cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandins (PGs), thromboxanes (TXs), and endothelins (ETs) participate in numerous physiological processes.

Contemporary management of pain in cirrhosis: Toward precision therapy for pain
Abstract Chronic pain is highly prevalent in patients with cirrhosis and is associated with poor health‐related quality of life and poor functional status. However, there is limited guidance on appropriate pain management in this population, and pharmacologic treatment can be harmful, leading to adverse outcomes, such as gastrointestinal bleeding ...

Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Urinary thromboxanes in dogs with conditions predisposing to thrombosis [PDF]
A number of canine diseases are associated with an increased risk of thrombo-embolic disease at the population level. These include common conditions such as immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA), protein-losing nephropathies (PLN), and protein ...

Thromboxanes: Synthase and Receptors
Thromboxane A2 is a biologically potent arachidonate metabolite through the cyclooxygenase pathway. It induces platelet aggregation and smooth muscle contraction and may promote mitogenesis and apoptosis of other cells. Its roles in physiological and pathological conditions have been widely documented.

The alimentary impact of the hemp seed [PDF]
Hemp seed and hemp seed oil can supply us with many important substances. Their essential fatty acid compositions are favourable, but they may contain non-psychotropic cannabinoids. Emerging data show that these components can influence the health status

Inhibition of NO-synthase and degranulation of rat omental mast cells in vitro
Mast cell amines, platelet-activating factor (PAF), thromboxanes and leukotrienes have been shown to be released during nitric oxide-synthase inhibition in the rat intestine.

Endotoxins and the importance of procalcitonin
Gram-negative bacilli and cocci bacteria produce and release endotoxins, which are lipopolysaccharides found in the outer membrane of the cell wall. These endotoxins are responsible for releasing a series of inflammatory mediators such as IL1, TNFα and ...

Molecular evolution of enzymes involved in the arachidonic acid cascade
The metabolic pathway called the arachidonic acid cascade produces a wide range of eicosanoids, such as prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes with potent biological activities.

Proinflammatory and immunoregulatory role of eicosanoids in T cells
Eicosanoids are inflammatory mediators primarily generated by hydrolysis of membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A2 to ω-3 and ω-6 C-20 fatty acids that next are converted to leukotrienes (LTs), prostaglandins (PGs), prostacyclins (PCs) and ...
