Generation and repair of thymic epithelial cells
In the vertebrate immune system, thymus stromal microenvironments support the generation of αβT cells from immature thymocytes. Thymic epithelial cells are of particular importance, and the generation of cortical and medullary epithelial lineages from progenitor stages controls the initiation and maintenance of thymus function.

GC cells enhance glutamine accumulation by upregulating SLC1A5 expression. This upregulation not only boosts GC cell proliferation, but also outcompetes CD8+ T cells for glutamine and suppresses their antitumor immunity. Mechanistically, METTL7A deficiency in GC induces SLC1A5 overexpression via an m6A‐dependent pathway and N‐glycosylation ...

Age-related increase of IGFBP5 promotes mitophagy and apoptosis in thymic epithelial cells
Objective To investigate the role and underlying mechanism of insulin like growth factor binding protein 5 (IGFBP5), a gene up-regulated with age in thymic epithelial cells, in the pathogenesis of thymic involution.

Administration of RANKL boosts thymic regeneration upon bone marrow transplantation
Cytoablative treatments lead to severe damages on thymic epithelial cells (TECs), which result in delayed de novo thymopoiesis and a prolonged period of T‐cell immunodeficiency. Understanding the mechanisms that govern thymic regeneration is of paramount

Thymic epithelial cells (TECs) are essential for the production of self-tolerant T cells. Single-cell ATAC-seq of medullary TECs suggests that Sirt6-mediated epigenetic regulation may regulate the development of thymic tuft cells from these TECs.

Clinical intramuscular thymus transplantation yields only short‐lived efficacy and marginal therapeutic benefits. Benefiting from the spleen's intrinsic strengths—rapid vascular perfusion, abundant developmental factors, and resident progenitors—the intrasplenic thymic grafts achieve robust thymic regeneration and substantial T‐cell reconstitution ...

Thymic epithelial cell-derived signals control B progenitor formation and proliferation in the thymus by regulating Let-7 and Arid3a. [PDF]
The postnatal thymus is an efficient microenvironment for T cell specification and differentiation. B cells are also present in the thymus and have been recently shown to impact T cell selection, however, the mechanisms controlling B cell development in ...

AbstractDespite the clear distinction between cortical (cTECs) and medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs) in physiology, the cell of origin of thymic carcinomas (TCs) and other thymic epithelial tumors remained enigmatic. We addressed this issue by focusing on AIRE, an mTEC‐specific transcriptional regulator that is required for immunological self ...
