In this work, a detection method is presented for the activity of plasma DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), namely DNMT1 Identification by Variable Activity (DIVA). DIVA can detect plasma DNMT1 at levels as low as 10−7 U mL−1, also it successfully evaluated tumor burden and predicted the neoadjuvant therapy responses of breast cancer patients.

How Does Thymine DNA Survive Ultrafast Dimerization Damage?
The photodimerization reaction between the two adjacent thymine bases within a single strand has been the subject of numerous studies due to its potential to induce DNA mutagenesis and possible tumorigenesis in human skin cells.

The contribution of thymine--thymine interactions to the stability of folded dimeric quadruplexes [PDF]
The loop of four thymines in the sodium form of the dimeric folded quadruplex [d(G3T4G3)]2 assumes a well-defined structure in which hydrogen bonding between the thymine bases appears to contribute to the stability and final conformation of the quadruplex.

Thymine DNA Glycosylase Can Rapidly Excise 5-Formylcytosine and 5-Carboxylcytosine
Background: Thymine DNA glycosylase is essential for active DNA demethylation and embryonic development. Results: TDG rapidly excises 5-formylcytosine (fC) and 5-carboxylcytosine (caC), products of Tet-mediated oxidation of 5-methylcytosine.

Low energy electron scattering from DNA and RNA bases: shape resonances and radiation damage [PDF]
Calculations are carried out to determine elastic scattering cross sections and resonance energies for low energy electron impact on uracil and on each of the DNA bases (thymine, cytosine, adenine, guanine), for isolated molecules in their equilibrium geometry. Our calculations are compared with available theory and experiment.

EccDNA‐Driven VPS41 Amplification Alleviates Genotoxic Stress via Lysosomal KAI1 Degradation
Following ionizing radiation, eccDNA‐mediated VPS41 amplification slightly increases its expression but fails to prevent apoptosis. Introducing exogenous eccDNA or VPS41 enhances VPS41‐KAI1 interaction, promoting lysosomal degradation of KAI1. This process inhibits apoptotic signaling, enhancing cell survival and resistance to radiation‐induced damage.

Plasmonic molecular entrapment (PME) is label‐free detection and quantification method for DNA methylation. This technique provides direct hotspot site generation around target analytes, overcoming mismatch geometrical properties. The PME demonstrates superior SERS performance and quantification capability, offering promising potential for epigenetic ...
