Beyond Tradition: An Integrated Toxicological, Ecological, and Public Health Perspective on Aristolochic Acids

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aristolochia species have long been used in traditional medicine for their presumed anti‐inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties. However, extensive toxicological and epidemiological evidence now demonstrates that these plants contain aristolochic acids (AAs) I and II, highly potent nephrotoxic, genotoxic, and carcinogenic ...

Stabilization of Long-Looped i-Motif DNA by Polypyridyl Ruthenium Complexes

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
A spectroscopic study of the interactions of Λ- and Δ-[Ru(phen)2(dppz)]2+ with i-motif DNA containing thymine loops of various lengths. In the presence of i-motifs, the luminescence of the Λ enantiomer was enhanced much more than the Δ. Despite this, the

Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...

Laser flash photolysis and magnetic-field-effect studies on interaction of thymine and thymidine with menadione: role of sugar in controlling reaction pattern

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2008
The magnetic field effect (MFE) in conjunction with laser flash photolysis has been used for the study of the interaction of one of the small drug like quinone molecules, 2-methyl, 1,4-naphthoquinone, commonly known as menadione (MQ), with one of the DNA

Identification of Natural and Artificial Modifications in DNA at the Nanometer Level

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Short single‐ and double‐stranded DNA sequences with natural and artificial markers are examined at ambient conditions using TERS to identify and localize the labelled nucleobases. The differences between single‐ and double‐stranded DNA should provide clear experimental evidence of the extreme surface sensitivity of TERS.

Uso da 99mTc-Timina na identificação de metástases de tumor venéreo transmissível canino com apresentação cutânea The use of 99mTc-Thymine to identify metastatic disease in dogs presenting the cutaneous form of canine transmissible venereal tumor

Bioanalytical TERS and Advanced Data Processing Methods

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Tip‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy delivers label‐free, subnanometer vibrational imaging of biological systems. Recent advances in instrumentation, data analysis, and ambient/liquid operation enable surface‐selective mapping of molecular heterogeneity in proteins, nucleic acids, membranes, and viruses, positioning TERS as a powerful platform for nanoscale

Programmable DNA pyrimidine base editing via engineered uracil-DNA glycosylase

open access: yesNature Communications
DNA base editing technologies predominantly utilize engineered deaminases, limiting their ability to edit thymine and guanine directly. In this study, we successfully achieve base editing of both cytidine and thymine by leveraging the translesion DNA ...

Automated DNA Motif Discovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ensembl's human non-coding and protein coding genes are used to automatically find DNA pattern motifs. The Backus-Naur form (BNF) grammar for regular expressions (RE) is used by genetic programming to ensure the generated strings are legal.
