The formation of stable clusters of gold nanoparticles with oligonucleotides at different solution conditions is explored. DNA base homogeneity and strand directionality influence the binding with gold nanoparticles leading to interesting clustering behavior that can be relevant for SERS applications.

A Method for Constructing Nucleosome Arrays with Spatially Defined Histone PTMs and DNA Damage
This work advances methodology by addressing challenges in mimicking the complex in vivo spatial relationships of histone acetylation and DNA damage. The combination of an abiotic/enzymatic hybrid catalyst system (ABEHCS) and the plug‐and‐play method has constituted a versatile platform to construct nucleosome arrays with precise histone acetylation ...

The regioisomeric cycloadducts of bromonitrile oxide and N-benzoyl-2,3-oxaza-norborn-5-ene were easily prepared and elaborated into a novel class of uracil-based scaffolds. The key-synthetic step is the nucleophilic substitution at the sp2 carbon atom of

Potential formation of three pyrimidine bases in interstellar regions [PDF]
Work on the chemical evolution of pre-biotic molecules remains incomplete since the major obstacle is the lack of adequate knowledge of rate coefficients of various reactions which take place in interstellar conditions. In this work, we study the possibility of forming three pyrimidine bases, namely, cytosine, uracil and thymine in interstellar regions.

Exploring DNA Functionalization Techniques for Silver Nanoparticles
This study evaluates four functionalization methods—salt‐aging, pH‐assisted, freezing‐directed, and microwave‐assisted—for attaching DNA strands to 20 nm silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The resulting DNA‐AgNP conjugates are characterized and colloidal stability and DNA loading are assessed.

Dissociative multi-photon ionization of isolated uracil and uracil-adenine complexes [PDF]
Recent multi-photon ionization (MPI) experiments on uracil revealed a fragment ion at m/z 84 that was proposed as a potential marker for ring opening in the electronically excited neutral molecule.

DNA Holliday junctions, or four‐way junctions (4WJs) are an attractive therapeutic target due to their prevalence in DNA replication and repair, and viral disease. Combining experimental and computational methods, we show that quadruple‐stranded dinuclear platinum metallo‐cages are an excellent size and shape match for the cavity of the 4WJ open ...

Graphene-enhanced Raman spectroscopy of thymine adsorbed on single-layer graphene
Graphene-enhanced Raman scattering (GERS) spectra and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) of thymine molecules adsorbed on a single-layer graphene were studied. The enhancement factor was shown to depend on the molecular groups of thymine.
