Triiodothyronine Modulates Thymocyte Migration
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 2007AbstractTriiodothyronine (T3) exerts several effects on thymus physiology. In this sense, T3 is known to stimulate thymic microenvironmental cells to enhance the production of extracellular matrix (ECM) moieties, which are relevant in thymocyte migration.

Thymocytes, macrophages, and erythrocytes
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1974Abstract Lymphocyte-macrophage and lymphocyte erythrocyte interactions were examined in the 4 homologous and 12 heterologous combinations of mice, rats, guinea pigs, and rabbits. There was a highly species-specific interaction between thymic lymphocytes (T cells) and homologous peritoneal macrophages.

Specific Antigenicity of Thymocytes
Nature, 1967THYMOCYTES (thymic lymphocytes) are believed to differ from lymphoid cells of other organs. They show a different response to a variety of physical, chemical and biological stimuli1, such as irradiation2 and phytohaemagglutinin3, and it has been claimed that they have an epithelial rather than mesenchymal origin4.

Thymocyte progenitors in ageing
Immunology Letters, 1994The effect of ageing on thymocyte progenitors in the bone marrow was studied in an in vitro experimental model that permits T lymphocyte development. The model is based on co-culture of BM cells from young and old mice with lymphoid depleted fetal thymus explants.

ATP DEPLETION INHIBITS THYMOCYTE APOPTOSIS
Biochemical Society Transactions, 1996We present evidence that, in quiescent cells, mitochondria deenergization is not correlated to apoptotic death; in fact thymocytes treated with oligomycin, a highly specific inhibitor of ATP synthase, alone or together with atractyloside to block ATP translocation from cytoplasm, were alive, even if they mitochondria were largely impaired, as revealed ...

Autologous macrophage-thymocyte interactions
Journal of Allergy, 1970Abstract There was a marked degree of adherence of normal guinea pig macrophages to autologous or homologous thymocytes. This exceeded the adherence to extrathymic lymphocytes or heterologous thymocytes.

Low-dense mature thymocytes (MT) and high-dense immature thymocytes (IMT) were investigated. Immature thymocyte-potentiating factor (IMPF) was found in the supernatant from MT stimulated by Con A. On the other hand, suppressing activity was present in the supernatant from the unstimulated IMT. IMPF was different from Con A itself.
