Novel algorithm for tilt measurements using MEMS accelerometers

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
A novel algorithm for determining pitch and roll under static or quasi-static conditions is presented. It is based on application of a triaxial micromachined accelerometer for the necessary measurements.

Re-examining sunspot tilt angle to include anti-Hale statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sunspot groups and bipolar magnetic regions (BMRs) serve as an observational diagnostic of the solar cycle. We use Debrecen Photohelographic Data (DPD) from 1974-2014 that determined sunspot tilt angles from daily white light observations, and data ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Abscopal Effect in Non-injected Tumors Achieved with Cytokine-Armed Oncolytic Adenovirus

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Oncolytics, 2018
Cancer treatment with local administration of armed oncolytic viruses could potentially induce systemic antitumor effects, or the abscopal effect, as they self-amplify in tumors, induce danger signaling, and promote tumor-associated antigen presentation.

The Function of Pitch Range Variations in Samples of Emotional Expressions in Persian [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Applied Language Studies, 2017
This study aims at investigating the interface between emotion and intonation patterns (more specifically, duration and pitch amplitude of speech). To this end, the acoustic properties of spectral parameters related to speech prosody are investigated ...

Tilt Correction of Panoramic Images for a Holistic Visual Homing Method with Planar-Motion Assumption

open access: yesRobotics, 2023
Holistic local visual homing based on warping of panoramic images relies on some simplifying assumptions about the images and the environment to make the problem more tractable.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

IOL tilt and decentration: a comparison of different haptic designs using CNN and SS-OCT in a short term

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
PurposeTo investigate the tilt and decentration differences and influencing factors of intraocular lenses (IOLs) with plate-haptic and C-loop haptic designs one month after cataract surgery, using the combination of swept-source optical coherence ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
