Tissue Factor-dependent Factor VIIa Signaling
Trends in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2000Tissue factor (TF) is known primary as a cofactor for factor VIIa-mediated triggering of blood coagulation, which proceeds in a cascade of extracellular reactions. Recent investigations have, however, revealed that intracellular activities can also be induced by the proteolytic activity of factor VIIa bound to cell surface TF.

Tissue factor mediates inflammation
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2005The role of tissue factor (TF) in inflammation is mediated by blood coagulation. TF initiates the extrinsic blood coagulation that proceeds as an extracellular signaling cascade by a series of active serine proteases: FVIIa, FXa, and thrombin (FIIa) for fibrin clot production in the presence of phospholipids and Ca2+. TF upregulation resulting from its

Tissue factor pathway inhibitor.
Minerva medica, 1999The role of Tissue Factor (TF, thromboplastin) as the major factor in initiation of the blood coagulation process has been known for more than 100 years. Its importance for the development of clinical thrombosis, be it venous or arterial, and the complexity of the cell biology of TF, have however been increasingly appreciated over the past 15-20 years.

The issues raised by Osterud and his colleagues in a paper in this journal are important and interesting. To prove a negative, however, is not possible because it implies that the entire universe must be examined - obviously an impossible condition. Osterud and his coworkers investigated the synthesis of tissue factor in whole blood and concluded that ...
