Cocaine unbalances endothelial tissue factor and tissue factor pathway inhibitor expression
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2006Cocaine consumption can lead to myocardial infarction. Tissue factor (TF) has been implicated in acute coronary syndromes, and the balance of TF and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) determines initiation of thrombus formation. This study was designed to investigate the effect of cocaine on endothelial TF and TFPI expression. Cocaine (10(-8)-10(-5)

Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI).
Roczniki Akademii Medycznej w Bialymstoku (1995), 1997Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) is a plasma proteinase inhibitor. It is a 42 kD glycoprotein that consists of 276 amino acid residues which sequence is known. TFPI is synthesized by vascular endothelial cells and part of it is associated with glycosaminoglycans of these cells.

Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor (Tfpi) – An Update
Pathophysiology of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, 1996There is compelling experimental evidence that tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) exerts important role(s) as a natural anticoagulant. Iinmunodepletion of TFPI lowers the treshold by which tissue factor (TF) can induce disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Gene targeting in hemostasis. tissue factor pathway inhibitor
Frontiers in Bioscience, 2001Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor (TFPI) is a serine protease inhibitor of the Factor VIIa/Tissue Factor (FVIIa/TF)-initiated clotting cascade. Mice expressing a mutant form of TFPI, in which its Kunitz-1 domain has been deleted (TFPIKu1delta/delta), die prematurely in embryogenesis between E9.5dpc and birth.

Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI)
1999Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) is a plasma glycoprotein which belongs to the Kunitz-type family of protease inhibitors. The mature molecule contains 276 amino acids, and consists of an acidic amino terminal end, three tandem Kunitz-type inhibitory domains, a highly basic carboxyl terminal end, and three potential N-linked glycosylation sites1 ...
