Sarcoidosis: is there a role for anti-TNF-α?

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Pneumologia, 2007
AbstractIn severe cases of sarcoidosis treatment can be very difficult. The common treatment strategies might be failing. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) α therapy is approved in rheumatoid arthritis, M. Crohn, psoriasis and ankylosing spondylitis. In sarcoidosis more recently a phase 2, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was ...

Role of the Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore in TNF-α -Induced Recovery of Ventricular Contraction and Reduction of Infarct Size in Isolated Rat Hearts Subjected to Ischemia/Reperfusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pretreatment with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is known to trigger cardioprotection. TNF-α can activate multiple downstream signaling cascades. However, it is not known whether the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MitoPTP) is involved in ...

Effect of Perceived Stress on Cytokine Production in Healthy College Students [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Chronic psychological stress impairs antibody synthesis following influenza vaccination. Chronic stress also increases circulating levels of proinflammatory cytokines and glucocorticoids in elders and caregivers, which can impair antibody synthesis.

Hyperuricemia and Pro Inflammatory Cytokine (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α)

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Rheumatology, 2018
Background. Rugerio et al 2006 reported that there were a positive correlation between the level of hyperuricemia and the level of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α pro infl ammatory cytokines value. On the other hand, Choi et al reported a negative correlation between hyperuricemia and the level of pro infl ammatory cytokine in the late phase of hyperuricemia.

High Level of Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-α is a Risk Factor for Preeclampsia

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2016
Objective: To define that elevated TNF-α serum level was the risk factor of preeclampsia in pregnancy. Method: This research is a case-control study. From 56 pregnant women, there are 28 women with preeclampsia and the other 28 women with normal pregnancy. Then the serum level of TNF-α was obtained at Prodia’s clinical Laboratory Denpasar.

Serious bacterial infections in patients with rheumatoid arthritis under anti‐TNF‐α therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective. With rising numbers of anti‐tumour necrosis factor α (TNF‐α) treatments for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Crohn's disease and other conditions, physicians unaware of potential pitfalls are increasingly likely to encounter associated severe ...

The structural basis for the selective antagonism of soluble TNF-alpha by shark variable new antigen receptors

open access: yesNature Communications
The pro-inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is synthesized as transmembrane TNF-α (tmTNF-α) where proteolytic processing releases soluble TNF-α (sTNF-α).
