TNF-α response in macrophages depends on clinical Legionella pneumophila isolates genotypes
Legionnaires’ Disease (LD) is a severe pneumonia mainly caused in Europe by Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (Lp1). Sequence-based typing methods reveal that some sequence types (ST) are overrepresented in clinical samples such as ST1 and ST47 ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Atorvastatin has been shown to reduce resistin expression in macrophages after pro-inflammatory stimulation. However, the mechanism of reducing resistin expression by atorvastatin is not known. Therefore, we sought to investigate the molecular mechanisms

Development of monoclonal antibodies for quantification of bovine tumor necrosis factor-α
The expression of the proinflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is associated with production losses in dairy cows and is a hallmark of early inflammatory processes. Reliable tools for the detection and quantification of soluble as well as

TNF-α infusion in AI results in tinnitus in normal-hearing wild-type and TNF-α KO mice.
A. Behavioral evidence of tinnitus was assessed with gap detection. B. The ability to hear tones was assessed with PPI. TNF-α infusion resulted in impaired gap detection in both wild-type and TNF-α KO mice but did not alter their performances in PPI ...

Modulation of autocrine TNF-α-stimulated matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) expression by mitogenactivated protein kinases in THP-1 monocytic cells [PDF]
Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) is implicated in various physiological processes by its ability to degrade the extracellular matrix (ECM) and process multiple regulatory proteins. Normally, MMP-9 expression is tightly controlled in cells. Sustained or

Disease progression and protection by anti-TNF-α Ab treatment.
(A) IFN-α/β/γR knockout (KO) mice (8–10 weeks old) were infected intraperitoneally with 2 × 106 focus-forming units (FFU) of DENV-3 P12/08 and sacrificed at Days 2, 3, and 4 post-infection (p.i.).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

TNF-α-stimulated NF-κB activation assay.
(A) and (B) Measurement of bioluminescence from cells without or with TNF-αstimulation. Monoclonal HeLa cells stably transfected with the NF-κB-secNluc-FLAG gene were inoculated at different densities (0 to 8000 cells per well) in 24-well plates for 12 h.
