Tocotrienol research: past into present [PDF]

open access: yesNutrition Reviews, 2012
The vitamin E family consists of eight isomers known as alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherols and alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocotrienols. Numerous studies focused on the health benefits of these isomers have been performed since the discovery of vitamin E in 1922.

Amelioration of Cancer Cachexia‐Induced Muscle Atrophy and Adipose Tissue Wasting by a Combination of Amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus L.) Hydrolysate and Korean Mint (Agastache rugosa) Extract in BALB/c Mice

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Amaranth hydrolysate combined with Agastache rugosa extract (AKE) attenuated cancer cachexia in CT26 tumor‐bearing mice by suppressing systemic inflammation and modulating muscle and adipose tissue metabolism. AKE inhibited FoxO3a‐mediated proteolysis while restoring PI3K/Akt/mTOR‐dependent protein synthesis in skeletal muscle.

Vitamin E‐Related Molecular Signatures in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: A Hypothesis‐Generating Multi‐Omics Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Integrative analysis of plasma miRNA data (GSE235203) and BM‐MSC transcriptomic data (GSE110359), combined with database‐derived VE/tocopherol target mapping, prioritized SOD1, GCLC, PTGS1, PTGS2, and KDR. Single‐cell localization, CellChat analysis, structural simulation, NHANES contextualization, and GSE286204 supported hypothesis‐generating links to

Synthesis of Fluorescent Analogues of the Anticancer Natural Products 4-Hydroxyphenylmethylene Hydantoin and δ-Tocotrienol

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2010
4-Hydroxyphenylmethylene hydantoin (PMH, 1 ), isolated from the Red Sea sponge Hemimycale Arabica , and δ-tocotrienol ( 3 ), isolated from the tocotrienol-rich fraction of palm oil, are important antimetastatic and antiproliferative natural products that

Bioactive Components and Functional Applications of Sea Buckthorn: A Review

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is a multifunctional food resource whose bioactive composition and functional potential depend strongly on plant part, extraction method, and processing matrix. Fruits and juices are rich in vitamin C, organic acids, carotenoids, phenolic acids, and flavonol glycosides; leaves provide abundant flavonoids ...

Selection of Wheat Germ Drying Methods Using Multi‐Criteria Decision‐Making Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
The parameters for the analysis of dried wheat germ were weighted using the MEREC method, with the most critical criterion being antioxidant capacity. The COBRA method was employed to evaluate a total of 15 alternatives. The most effective drying method for wheat germ was determined to be the combination of vacuum pre‐drying and microwave finish‐drying

Evaluation of the protective effects of tocotrienol-rich fraction from palm oil on the dentate gyrus following chronic restraint stress in rats

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2013
Exposure to chronic restraint stress has been shown to cause a number of morphological changes in the hippocampal formation of rats. Tocotrienol, an isoform of vitamin E, exhibits numerous health benefits, different from those of tocopherol.

Reconfiguring biofortification strategies to transform food systems and address micronutrient deficiency of the 21st century

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 8, Page 2511-2547, August 2026.
This review explores how to make staple foods and horticultural crops more nutritious, including how artificial intelligence‐based screening of gene banks helps deploy nutritionally rich germplasm into breeding. Genome editing can help develop crops richer in minerals, vitamins, and health‐promoting compounds, supporting healthier diets and more ...
