Tolerogenic Dendritic Cells: All Present and Correct? [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Transplantation, 2010
Although well-recognized for their sentinel role and, when activated, their immunostimulatory function, bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DC) possess inherent tolerogenic (tol) ability. Under quiescent conditions, these cells maintain central and peripheral self tolerance.

Early‐stage health technology assessment of a curative gene therapy for multiple sclerosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Multiple sclerosis (MS) is associated with significant early morbidity, reduced life expectancy and substantial healthcare and societal costs. The primary objective of this study is to assess the early cost‐effectiveness potential of a novel gene therapy, IMMUTOL, for MS compared with current high‐efficacy treatment sequences.

Tolerogenic dendritic cells and their potential applications [PDF]

open access: yesImmunology, 2011
Dendritic cells (DCs) play a pivotal role in regulating the balance between immunity and tolerance of the immune system. Recent advancements in DC biology and techniques for manipulating the function of these cells have shown their immense therapeutic potential for treating a variety of immune disorders.

Local lactate-driven H3K18 lactylation impairs anti-influenza immunity through NRF2-dependent dendritic cell dysfunction

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Metabolic alterations are increasingly recognized during influenza virus infection, but how local lactate accumulation shapes antiviral immunity remains poorly characterized.

Beyond Gut Modulation: A Critical Review of the Therapeutic Potential, Safety, and Clinical Prospects of Natural Polysaccharides for IBD

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

Tolerogenic dendritic cells as a therapy for treating lupus

open access: yesClinical Immunology, 2013
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that is characterized by the over production of auto-antibodies against nuclear components. Thus, SLE patients have increased morbidity and, mortality compared to healthy individuals. Available therapies are not curative and are associated with unwanted adverse effects. During the last

Tolerogenic Transcriptional Signatures of Steady-State and Pathogen-Induced Dendritic Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Dendritic cells (DCs) are key directors of tolerogenic and immunogenic immune responses. During the steady state, DCs maintain T cell tolerance to self-antigens by multiple mechanisms including inducing anergy, deletion, and Treg activity.

Hypoxia promotes the tolerogenic phenotype of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2022
Objective We aim to review the roles of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and explore the effects of hypoxia on the tolerogenic transformation of pDCs.

A Pan‐Cancer Single‐Cell Atlas of Bone Metastases Reveals Convergent Malignant Programs and Coordinated Immune Dysfunction

open access: yesiMetaMed, EarlyView.
A pan‐cancer atlas deciphers tumor‐induced reprogramming in bone metastases. Malignant evolution toward MYC/proliferation is a hallmark of bone metastases. Niche‐mediated immune dysfunction is characterized by immature pDCs, impaired antigen presentation and phagocytosis in TAMs, and exhausted T cells.

The dendritic density field of a cortical pyramidal cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Much is known about the computation in individual neurons in the cortical column. Also, the selective connectivity between many cortical neuron types has been studied in great detail.
