Dendritic spikes control synaptic plasticity and somatic output in cerebellar Purkinje cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Neurons receive the vast majority of their input onto their dendrites. Dendrites express a plethora of voltage-gated channels. Regenerative, local events in dendrites and their role in the information transformation in single neurons are, however, poorly

Trophoblast Extracellular Vesicles Rewire Immunity: A Symptom‐Relief Avenue for Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
First‐trimester trophoblast EVs are enriched in anti‐inflammatory proteins, lipids, and immunoregulatory miRNAs. EVT‐EVs reprogram monocytes toward a pro‐resolving phenotype and restore immune homeostasis in RDEB, supporting their potential as offering a scalable off‐the‐shelf therapy for chronic inflammatory diseases.

Microbiome‐Derived Tryptophan Metabolites Regulate AhR Signaling to Restore Epithelial Barrier Integrity in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates how microbiome‐derived indoles activate the aryl hydrocarbon receptor to restore the intestinal barrier. The picture contrasts the “leaky gut” state with the restored homeostasis achieved through AMPK, Nrf2, and IL‐22 signaling.

Extracellular Vesicles: Classification, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
• EV content maintains cellular homeostasis and is involved in several disease onset and progression. • miRNA export in EVs depends on: RNA‐binding proteins recognizing motif sequences and on epitranscriptomic modifications. • The disclosure of delivery mechanisms is crucial for developing personalized EV‐based therapeutic tools. ABSTRACT Extracellular

Harnessing Natural Killer Cells: From Neuroimmunology to Novel Therapies for Central Nervous System Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
This review delineates the multifaceted roles of natural killer (NK) cells in the central nervous system, spanning direct cytolysis, immunoregulation, and crosstalk with the brain microenvironment. We evaluate the translational potential and challenges of NK cell immunotherapies for a spectrum of neurological conditions.

HDM and mannose as novel tolerogenic inducers for dendritic cells: mTOR/PPARγ-mediated attenuation of allergic asthma

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Dendritic cells (DCs) are pivotal in balancing immunity and tolerance in allergic asthma. This study reveals that both house dust mite (HDM) and mannose induce a potent tolerogenic phenotype in bone marrow derived DCs (BMDCs).

Efficacy and Safety of Co‐Ablation Combined With Aintilimab for Metastatic Melanoma to the Liver (CryoCheck‐001): A Phase II Trial

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Liver metastasis is a key driver of immune tolerance in patients with melanoma receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. This single‐arm phase II trial prospectively investigated the efficacy and safety of co‐ablation combined with sintilimab for liver metastatic melanoma.

Suppression of adaptive immunity to heterologous antigens during plasmodium infection through hemozoin-induced failure of dendritic cell function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Dendritic cells (DCs) are central to the initiation and regulation of the adaptive immune response during infection. Modulation of DC function may therefore allow evasion of the immune system by pathogens.

Tolerogenic dendritic cell therapy – causal treatment of autoimmune diseases

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2013
Background: Dendritic cells (DCs) are considered as primary carriers of antigenic (Ag) information in the human body. This information is later presented to Ag-specific T lymphocytes in various ways that can be either immunostimulating or ...

Therapeutic Immune Reprogramming by Rapamycin Attenuates Plaque Inflammation and Lymphoid Immune Responses in Aged Atherosclerotic Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
Rapamycin exerts multifaceted immunomodulatory effects in age‐induced atherosclerosis, with pronounced inhibitory effects on adaptive immunity. Rapamycin reduced plaque inflammation and macrophage content, diminished pro‐inflammatory T cell responses, lowered age‐associated B cell frequencies, and attenuated senescence‐associated immune signatures ...
