The ecological fitness of the tomato potato psyllid after transferring from non-crop host plants to tomato and potato.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
An insect's fitness varies on different host plant species, and can be affected by previous host feeding experience. In New Zealand, Bactericera cockerelli (the tomato potato psyllid (TPP)) overwinter on various host species, and later migrate to ...

Hyperspectral Imaging for cherry tomato [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Cherry tomato (Solanum Lycopersicum) is popular with consumers over the world due to its special flavor. Soluble solids content (SSC) and firmness are two key metrics for evaluating the product qualities. In this work, we develop non-destructive testing techniques for SSC and fruit firmness based on hyperspectral images and a corresponding deep ...

Semaphorin 3E‐Plexin‐D1 Pathway Downstream of the Luteinizing Hormone Surge Regulates Ovulation, Granulosa Cell Luteinization, and Ovarian Angiogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E)‐Plexin‐D1 pathway mediated by C/EBPα and C/EBPβ downstream of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge plays important roles in the mouse preovulatory ovary. Timely activation and suppression of this pathway during the preovulatory stage are crucial for ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and proper angiogenesis.

Investigations on Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae): larval infestation on the tomato cultivated in open field and evaluation of five essential oils against larvae in laboratory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The tomato miner Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is a Neotropical species, which cause serious damages to tomato in spread areas. It appeared in 2008 in Italy, where it seriously threatened tomato production both in greenhouse and open ...

Detection of Tomato Ripening Stages using Yolov3-tiny [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
One of the most important agricultural products in Mexico is the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), which occupies the 4th place national most produced product . Therefore, it is necessary to improve its production, building automatic detection system that detect, classify an keep tacks of the fruits is one way to archieve it. So, in this paper, we address

Unveiling Salt Tolerance Mechanisms in Plants: Integrating the KANMB Machine Learning Model With Metabolomic and Transcriptomic Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Salt stress endangers coastal cereal crops, requiring resilient crop solutions. This study employs machine learning (KANMB) to analyze multi‐omics data from halophyte Spartina alterniflora, revealing 226 salt‐stress biomarkers and linking them to tolerance pathways. The MYB gene SaMYB35 regulates flavonoid biosynthesis under salinity.

Modeling of the break process to improve tomato paste production quality : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment for the degree of Master of Engineering in Bioprocess at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The pectic enzyme, Pectinmethylesterase (PE) and Polygalacturonase I and II (PGI and PGII), in the tomato fruit released after crushing during tomato processing reduce the viscosity of tomato paste by breaking down the insoluble pectin in the cell wall ...

Look how they have grown: Non-destructive Leaf Detection and Size Estimation of Tomato Plants for 3D Growth Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Australasian conference on robotics and automation (ACRA 2022), 2023
Smart farming is a growing field as technology advances. Plant characteristics are crucial indicators for monitoring plant growth. Research has been done to estimate characteristics like leaf area index, leaf disease, and plant height. However, few methods have been applied to non-destructive measurements of leaf size.

A Phase‐Separated SR Protein Reprograms Host Pre‐mRNA Splicing to Enhance Disease Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies SR30, a splicing factor, as a negative regulator of tomato immunity. During Phytophthora infestans infection, the elevated SR30 forms nuclear condensates to suppress the alternative splicing (AS) of defense‐related genes in a phase separation manner.
