Accurate Torque Ripple Measurement for PMSM

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2011
Torque ripple in permanent-magnet synchronous motors is generally undesirable. Significant work has been done to minimize this torque, either by modifying the mechanical motor design or by careful controller design. Surprisingly, however, little work has been published on the accuracy of torque ripple measurement.

Contactless measurement of torque

Mechatronics, 2000
Abstract This paper describes a micromechanical sensor for contactless detection of torque at rotating shafts. The sensor consists of a silicon chip and uses a magnetoelastic principle for measurement. A closed magnetic loop is formed by the sensor chip and a magnetoelastic layer which is applied to the shaft.

Measurement of the Casimir torque

Nature, 2018
Intermolecular forces are pervasive in nature and give rise to various phenomena including surface wetting1, adhesive forces in biology2,3, and the Casimir effect4, which causes two charge-neutral, metal objects in vacuum to attract each other.
