Antioxidant Activity, Total Phenol, and Total Flavonoid of Syzygium Polyanthum

2021 IEEE International Conference on Health, Instrumentation & Measurement, and Natural Sciences (InHeNce), 2021
Free radicals are molecules that have an unpaired electron in their outer orbital so they are highly reactive. Antioxidants (free radical scavenging compounds) are substances that can neutralize free radicals, or materials that function to prevent the body's biological systems from being oxidized excessively.

Intakes of total and individual flavonoids by US adults

International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, 2013
Knowing the dietary flavonoid intake of individuals and populations is the first step to clearly understand their health effects. Dietary flavonoid intake studies have been hampered by the lack of flavonoid food composition data. The objectives of this study were to estimate intakes of individual, classes and total flavonoids in the US adults; to ...

On the spectrophotometric determination of total phenolic and flavonoid contents

Acta Biologica Hungarica, 2013
Spectrophotometric assays assessing total phenol and flavonoid content in plant samples are cheaper and faster and thus more accessible methods than analytical chromatography techniques, although these identify compound categories rather than individual compounds.

Total Synthesis of the Flavonoid Natural Product Houttuynoid A

Journal of Natural Products, 2018
The first total synthesis of the antiviral flavonoid houttuynoid A (1) has been achieved from aryl ketone 6 and benzofuran aldehyde 5 in nine linear steps. The C6-C3-C6 structure of the flavonoid was synthesized by an I2-catalyzed oxa-Michael addition of a chalcone intermediate, generated by the Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 5 and 6.

Progressive studies on biological activity of total flavonoids of Astragalus

China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica, 2010
Progresses in the studies on chemical constituents and bioactivities of total flavonoids of Astragalus (TFA) were systemically reviewed in this article. The results of studies on their bioactivities show that TFA has antioxidant and antitumor activities, and strengthen the immune system.

Interactions between Flavonoids and Proteins:  Effect on the Total Antioxidant Capacity

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2002
Flavonoids are potent antioxidants. It is also known that flavonoids bind to proteins. The effect of the interaction between tea flavonoids and proteins on the antioxidant capacity was examined. Their separate and combined antioxidant capacities were measured with the Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) assay.
