Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Use of Macroinvertebrate Life History Information in Toxicity Tests

open access: yes, 1979
Life history information of macroinvertebrates is an important variable to consider when interpreting the results of toxicity tests. The importance of life history information has been recognized in the culturing of macroinvertebrates, but only in the ...

Review of ecologically relevant in vitro bioassays to supplement current in vivo tests for whole effluent toxicity testing - Part 2: Non-apical endpoints

open access: yes, 2022
Whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing uses whole animal exposures to assess the toxicity of complex mixtures, like wastewater. These assessments typically include four apical endpoints: mortality, growth, development, and reproduction. In the last decade,

Evaluation of produced water toxicity from an oil maritime terminal through Skeletonema costatum toxicity tests

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 1999
The liquid effluent from an oil maritime terminal, with produced water as the main component, had its toxicity evaluated through toxicity tests with the diatom Skeletonema costatum.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Hepatotoxicity of the phytomedicines Kava Kava and Cimicifuga Racemosa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this thesis the hepatotoxic properties of the two phytomedicines kava kava and cimicifuga racemosa have been investigated. This topic is a prevailing problem as herbal medicines are quite popular today and not much is known about their toxicological

Ceriodaphnia dubia Chronic Toxicity Tests

open access: yes, 2009
Crustaceans are considered an important part of the soft water zooplankton community. Therefore they represent water organisms in the test set for the ecotoxicological characterization of wastes. Following ISO/CD guideline 20665, the chronic Ceriodaphnia
