Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

Post-synaptic Release of the Neuronal Tissue-Type Plasminogen Activator (tPA)

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2019
The neuronal serine protease tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (tPA) is an important player of the neuronal survival and of the synaptic plasticity. Thus, a better understanding the mechanisms regulating the neuronal trafficking of tPA is required to ...

Enhanced Self‐Phase Modulation in Silicon Nitride Waveguides Integrated With 2D MoS2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On‐chip integration of 2D materials provides a promising route toward next‐generation integrated optical devices with performance beyond existing limits. Here, significantly enhanced spectral broadening induced by self‐phase modulation (SPM) is experimentally demonstrated in silicon nitride (Si3N4) waveguides integrated with 2D monolayer ...

Antibunched Emission of Photon-Pairs via Quantum Zeno Blockade

open access: yes, 2011
We propose a new methodology, namely "quantum Zeno blockade," for managing light scattering at a few-photon level in general nonlinear-optical media, such as crystals, fibers, silicon microrings, and atomic vapors.

Molecular Engineering for Enhanced Second‐Order Nonlinear Response in Spontaneously‐Oriented Evaporated Organic Films

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Intramolecular bridge‐locking frustrates detrimental anti‐parallel packing in evaporated organic films. This design enhances net polar orientation, leading to a twofold off‐resonance increase in the second‐order nonlinear susceptibility (χ(2)) without electric‐field poling.

Novel Situations of Endothelial Injury in Stroke — Mechanisms of Stroke and Strategy of Drug Development: Novel Mechanism of the Expression and Amplification of Cell Surface–Associated Fibrinolytic Activity Demonstrated by Real-Time Imaging Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2011
.: Vascular endothelial cells (VECs) secrete tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) in an active form and thus its facilitated secretion directly enhances fibrinolytic activity.

Collagenase is a major gene product of induced rabbit synovial fibroblasts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have investigated the effects of the tumor-promoting phorbol diester, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA), on rabbit synovial fibroblasts, and found that this agent induced a major switch in gene expression in these cells that was marked by the
