Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Design for Eddy Current Loss Reduction in Permanent Magnets to Prevent Irreversible Demagnetization

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
We designed and analyzed an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) to prevent irreversible demagnetization of the permanent magnets (PMs). Irreversible demagnetization of NdFeB PMs mainly occurs due to high temperature, which should thus be ...

Coherence as ultrashort pulse train generator

open access: yes, 2010
Intense, well-controlled regular light pulse trains start to play a crucial role in many fields of physics. We theoretically demonstrate a very simple and robust technique for generating such periodic ultrashort pulses from a continuous probe wave which ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A pilot study to test psychophonetics methodology for self-care and empathy in compassion fatigue, burnout and secondary traumatic stress

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Primary Health Care & Family Medicine, 2013
Background: Home-based care is recognised as being a stressful occupation. Practitioners working with patients experiencing high levels of trauma may be susceptible to compassion fatigue, with the sustained need to remain empathic being a contributing ...

Training Grounds: Training and…Travel

open access: yesTheatre, Dance and Performance Training, 2013
February 2012. Research trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is snowing when I visit Sarajevo War Theater. Up a steep hill not far from the Zetra Stadium. Where Torvill and Dean danced to Bolero in 1984. Old people struggle to stay on their feed. Children zoom downhill on handmade sledges. A young man clears the snow from the theatre's doorway. I ask him

Modelling single line train operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Scheduling of trains on a single line involves using train priorities for the resolution of conflicts. The mathematical programming model described in the first part of this paper schedules trains over a single line track when the priority of each train ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Halton Sequences for Mixed Logit [PDF]

open access: yes
The simulation variance in the estimation of mixed logit parameters is found, in our application, to be lower with 100 Halton draws than with 1000 random draws.

On train track splitting sequences

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the subsurface projection of a train track splitting sequence is an unparameterized quasi-geodesic in the curve complex of the subsurface. For the proof we introduce induced tracks, efficient position, and wide curves.
