3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Optimal trajectory design for interception and deflection of Near Earth Objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Many asteroids and comets orbit the inner solar system; among them Near Earth Objects (NEOs) are those celestial bodies for which the orbit lies close, and sometimes crosses, the Earth's orbit.

An approach based on multiquadric radial basis functions for smooth trajectory planning of robotic manipulators with kinematic constraints [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper introduces a novel approach for planning smooth trajectories of robotic manipulators byleveraging multiquadric radial basis functions (MQRBFs). The proposed approach aims to achieve optimal trajectories by minimizing a multi-objective function

Direct Synthesis of High‐Valence Protein@UiO‐66 Composites: Linking Crystallization Pathways to Protein Encapsulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a direct, biocompatible method to synthesize UiO‐66, enabling one‐step encapsulation of proteins without compromising crystallinity or activity. Using advanced in situ and ex situ techniques, the study reveals that proteins integrate concurrently with MOF growth, forming crystalline protein@UiO‐66 nanoparticles, and provide insight ...

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...

Evolution‐Driven Bio‐Composite Aerogels for Self‐Adaptive Thermal Regulation and Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by nature's multiphase integration, a single chitosan (CTS)–metal chloride (MCl3) coordination precursor is engineered to enable sequential material and functional evolution. The resulting metal ion‐coordinated chitosan (CTS–M) aerogels exhibit humidity‐adaptive thermal insulation for battery safety, while carbonization yields conductive ...

Development and Implementation of Trajectory Optimization Technologies for Cranial Stereotactic Radiation Therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Radiotherapy treatment planning optimization employs metrics for the quantification of plan quality indicators based on a set of input desired criteria by the planner. Patient-specificity in current practice is limited to the customization and refinement

Field‐Programmed Anisotropy in Magneto‐Piezoelectric Composites for Material‐Encoded Mechanoperception

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐programmed anisotropy imparts material‐level intelligence to soft composites. Magnetic torque dynamics drive magneto‐piezoelectric nanowires from random dispersion into deterministic axial alignment. The resulting hierarchical percolation networks confine electromechanical coupling to specific axes and intrinsically decouple superposed force ...
