Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Specific multivalent molecules boost CRISPR-mediated transcriptional activation

open access: yesNature Communications
CRISPR/Cas-based transcriptional activators can be enhanced by intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs). However, the underlying mechanisms are still debatable.

The BET protein FSH functionally interacts with ASH1 to orchestrate global gene activity in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: The question of how cells re-establish gene expression states after cell division is still poorly understood. Genetic and molecular analyses have indicated that Trithorax group (TrxG) proteins are critical for the long-term maintenance of ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Molecular switching in transcription through splicing and proline-isomerization regulates stress responses in plants

open access: yesNature Communications
The Arabidopsis thaliana DREB2A transcription factor interacts with the negative regulator RCD1 and the ACID domain of subunit 25 of the transcriptional co-regulator mediator (Med25) to integrate stress signals for gene expression, with elusive molecular

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Opposing actions of c-ets/PU.1 and c-myb protooncogene products in regulating the macrophage-specific promoters of the human and mouse colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (c-fms) genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The receptor for macrophage colony stimulating factor (CSF-1), the c- fms gene product, is a key determinant in the differentiation of monocytic phagocytes.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Alternative splicing of activator CcbHLH1 gene accounts for anthocyanin absence in white cornflower

open access: yesOrnamental Plant Research
Anthocyanins play crucial roles in conferring multicolored characteristics to higher plant organs. Previous studies have investigated the absence of anthocyanin accumulation in white cornflower petals, where the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway was ...
