Diversity of the transferrin-binding protein tbp2 of neisseria meningitidis

Gene, 1995
In order to investigate the genetic basis for the observed polymorphism amongst meningococcal transferrin-binding proteins, Tbp2, the corresponding genes of different Neisseria meningitidis strains were cloned and sequenced. Comparison of the deduced amino acid (aa) sequences indicated that the Tbp2 were 76.6 to 81.2% homologous.

A Chicken Transferrin Binding Protein Is Heat Shock Protein 108

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1994
A previously described transferrin binding protein from chicken oviduct has been identified as a heat shock protein, HSP108, by microsequencing of RP-HPLC purified tryptic peptides. The protein purified from oviduct by SDS-PAGE or from liver by ovotransferrin-affinity chromatography reacts with a monoclonal antibody raised against HSP108.

Isolation and characterization of a transferrin binding protein from rat plasma

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1990
A transferrin binding protein was isolated from normal rat placenta and from iron-deficient rat plasma using a human transferrin affinity column. The yield of the isolated pure protein from iron-deficient rat plasma was about 0.5 micrograms/ml plasma. The major protein had a molecular mass of 85 kDa and contained carbohydrate.

The protein corona hampers the transcytosis of transferrin-modified nanoparticles through blood-brain barrier and attenuates their targeting ability to brain tumor.

Biomaterials, 2021
The modification of targeting ligands on nanoparticles (NPs) is anticipated to enhance the delivery of therapeutics to diseased tissues. However, once exposed to the blood stream, NPs can immediately adsorb proteins to form the "protein corona," which ...

Expression of Transferrin Binding Protein in the Capillaries of the Brain in the Developing Chick Embryo

Neurochemical Research, 2008
Transferrin-binding protein (TfBP) has been shown to be a novel protein, structurally related to the chicken heat shock protein 108. The physiological function of this protein, however, has not yet been established. Antiserum to TfBP selectively stains transferrin- and iron-rich oligodendrocytes and choroidal epithelium in the adult and embryonic chick

Affinity-Purification of Transferrin-Binding Protein B under Nondenaturing Conditions

Protein Expression and Purification, 2002
The commonly used purification procedures for Transferrin-binding protein B (TbpB) are based on an affinity chromatography step using resins onto which human transferrin had been immobilized. These protocols involve protein elution using denaturing buffer solutions.

Production of Lipidated Meningococcal Transferrin Binding Protein 2 in Escherichia coli

Protein Expression and Purification, 1995
Neisseria meningitidis strains grown under iron starvation conditions produce transferrin binding proteins (Tbp1 and Tbp2) which have been shown to play a major role in iron acquisition. Recent studies performed with Tbp2 purified from N. meningitidis suggest that this surface protein is a potential vaccine component.

Mapping of functional regions on the transferrin-binding protein (TfbA) of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae

Infection and Immunity, 1995
Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae can use porcine transferrin as the sole source of iron. Two proteins with molecular masses of approximately 60 kDa (TfbA) and 110 kDa have been shown to specifically bind porcine transferrin; from the TfbA protein, three isoforms from A.

Characterization of the transferrin-binding protein in a human trophoblast.

Placenta. Supplement, 1983
The physical properties and binding characteristics of the solubilized transferrin-binding protein from BeWo cells, a human choriocarcinoma cell line, were investigated. The binding protein was isolated from 125I-labelled membranes by solubilization followed by immunoprecipitation with anti-human transferrin in the presence of saturating human ...
