Expression of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in chronic idiopathic cough

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2009
In patients with chronic idiopathic cough, there is a chronic inflammatory response together with evidence of airway wall remodelling and an increase in airway epithelial nerves expressing TRPV-1.

Growth factors for clinical-scale expansion of human articular chondrocytes : Relevance for automated bioreactor systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The expansion of chondrocytes in automated bioreactors for clinical use requires that a relevant number of cells be generated, starting from variable initial seeding densities in one passage and using autologous serum.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Effects of the administration of pentoxifylline and prednisolone on the evolution of portal fibrogenesis secondary to biliary obstruction in growing animals: immunohistochemical analysis of the expression of TGF-β and VEGF

open access: yesClinics, 2012
OBJECTIVE: During the neonatal and infancy periods, some chronic liver diseases may lead to progressive hepatic fibrosis, which is a condition that can ultimately result in the loss of organ function and severe portal hypertension necessitating hepatic ...

The Role of <i>L. plantarum</i> as an Immunomodulator Secretion of <i>Transforming Growth Factor</i>-β1, <i>Transforming Growth Factor</i>-β3, and <i>Interferon</i>-α Macrophages and Dermal Fibroblasts

open access: yesAsian Journal of Applied Sciences, 2017
This research aims to see the effect of L.plantarum in modulating the secretion of Transforming Growth Factor-TGFβ1, TGFβ3 macrophages and fibroblasts, Interferon-IFNα macrophages, and to analyze the possibility of L.plantarum potency in supporting the process of scarless wound healing.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Korelasi Antara Transforming Growth Factor -Î’1 Monosit dengan Kebocoran Vaskuler pada Demam Berdarah Dengue

open access: yesJurnal Kedokteran Brawijaya, 2013

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transforming growth factor-β: Biology and application to cancer therapy [PDF]

open access: yesArchive of Oncology, 2009
Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), an extensively investigated cytokine, plays a very important role in promoting the spread of cancers in the body, and can play a direct role in facilitating metastasis.
