α-Glucosidase catalyzes the hydrolysis of α-d-glucosides and transglucosylation. Bacillus sp. AHU2216 α-glucosidase (BspAG13_31A), belonging to the glycoside hydrolase family 13 subfamily 31, specifically cleaves α-(1→4)-glucosidic linkages and shows ...

The Formation of Covalent Linkages in Lignocellulosic Biomass via the Oxocarbenium Intermediate
Density functional theory models show that the hydrated and acidic hemicellulose matrix in lignocellulosic biomass can generate oxocarbenium ions. These reactive intermediates can participate in the stable formation of glycosidic lignin‐carbohydrate covalent linkages, promoting recalcitrance in plant biomass.

The mucin-degradation strategy of Ruminococcus gnavus:The importance of intramolecular trans-sialidases [PDF]
We previously identified and characterized an intramolecular trans-sialidase (IT-sialidase) in the gut symbiont Ruminococcus gnavus ATCC 29149, which is associated to the ability of the strain to grow on mucins. In this work we have obtained and analyzed

Transglycosylation Activity of Glycosynthase Mutants of Endo-β-N-Acetylglucosaminidase from Coprinopsis cinerea. [PDF]
Endo-β-N-acetylglucosaminidase (ENGase), which catalyzes hydrolysis of N-linked oligosaccharides, is a useful tool for analyzing oligosaccharide contents of glycoproteins.

Channel-forming activity of syringopeptin 25 A in mercury-supported phospholipid monolayers and negatively charged bilayers [PDF]
Interactions of the cationic lipodepsipeptide syringopeptin 25 A (SP25A) with mercury-supported dioleoylphosphatidylcholine (DOPC), dioleoylphosphatidylserine (DOPS) and dioeleoylphosphatidic acid (DOPA) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) were investigated

We devised two screening systems to detect cell wall transglycosylation inhibitors. One screen utilizes a mutant of Enterococcus faecalis strain A256 that is dependent on vancomycin or moenomycin for growth. In the absence of transglycosylation inhibitors the strain fails to grow, while in the presence of inhibitors, cells are rescued.

Transglycosylation: A mechanism for RNA modification (and editing?) [PDF]
The vast majority of the ca. 100 chemically distinct modified nucleosides in RNA appear to arise via the chemical transformation of a genetically encoded nucleoside. Two notable exceptions are queuosine and pseudouridine, which are incorporated into tRNA via transglycosylation.
