Product Advanced Design: A Cultural Intermediation Between Knowledge and Information

open access: yesDIID, 2021
Digital transformation (DX) drives transversal change, breaking disciplinary silos to transition to more sustainable paradigms through new ontological and epistemological frameworks. This has consequences on product design and development too:

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

New Technologies in Orthodontics: A Digital Workflow to Enhance Treatment Plan and Photobiomodulation to Expedite Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Background: The transversal maxillary deficiency represents one of the most frequent skeletal discrepancies of the craniofacial region. The analysis of morphological characteristics of the maxilla can be detrimental for a correct diagnosis and treatment ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dual-Band Tunable Recursive Active Filter

open access: yes, 2011
This letter presents a novel recursive active filter topology that provides dual-band performance, with independent tuning capability in both bands. The dual-band operation is achieved by using two independent feedback lines.

Design of a Transverse Flux Linear Motor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Magnetics, 2011
This paper presents design procedures of a transverse flux linear motor (TFLM). The minimum and maximum flux linkage was determined by the simplified equivalent magnetic circuit and estimated average magnetic flux density at the air gap region by considering the shape of applied magnetomotive force (MMF).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Deterministic Approach of Merging of Blocks in Transversal Design based Key Predistribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Transversal Design is a well known combinatorial design that has been used in deterministic key predistribution scheme. Merging of blocks in a design sometimes helps to obtain a key predistribution scheme with better performance.
