Investigation of the Static Bending Response of FGM Sandwich Plates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics
In the present work, a displacement-based high-order shear deformation theory is introduced for the static response of functionally graded plates. The present theory is variationally consistent and strongly similar to the classical plate theory in many ...

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Analysis of Shear Flexible Layered Isotropic and Composite Shells by ‘EPSA’

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2012
We present a simple and efficient method for the analysis of shear flexible isotropic and orthotropic composite shells. Classical thin shell constitutive equations used in the explicit finite element code EPSA to model homogenous isotropic shells using ...

Thermal Deformation of Antisymmetric Angle-ply Laminated Plate Strips in Cylindrical Bending

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2002
Exact analytical solutions for the thermal deformations of antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plate strips in cylindrical bending are developed. The state variable technique in conjunction with Jordan canonical form is used to obtain these solutions for ...

The transverse shear deformation behaviour of magneto-electro-elastic shell [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016
Compared to the large number of possible magneto-electro-elastic shell theories, very few exact solutions determining the in-plane stresses, electric displacements and magnetic inductions are possible. While, solving the magneto-electro-elastic shell equations in terms of thermo-magneto-electro-elastic generalized field functions on arbitrary domains ...

A nonlocal sinusoidal plate model for micro/nanoscale plates

open access: yes, 2014
A nonlocal sinusoidal plate model for micro/nanoscale plates is developed based on Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory and sinusoidal shear deformation plate theory.

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Finite element analysis of fatigue damage of composite laminated structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Composite materials are increasingly believed to be the materials of the future with potential for application in high perfon-nance structures. One of the reasons for that is the indication that composite materials have a rather good rating with regard

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical
