The contribution of serum triacylglycerol to hepatic triacylglycerol turnover in the starved rat [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1978
The present study was undertaken to evaluate quantitatively the turnover of serum triacylglycerol (triglyceride) in the starved rat and to determine whether serum triacylglycerol recycled to liver contributes a significant fraction of the total hepatic triacylglycerol turnover.

RIPK3 dampens mitochondrial bioenergetics and lipid droplet dynamics in metabolic liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
RIPK3 dampens mitochondrial bioenergetics and lipid droplet dynamics in metabolic liver disease. Abstract Background and Aims Receptor‐interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3) mediates NAFLD progression, but its metabolic function is unclear. Here, we aimed to investigate the role of RIPK3 in modulating mitochondria function, coupled with lipid droplet (LD)

Perilipin A Increases Triacylglycerol Storage by Decreasing the Rate of Triacylglycerol Hydrolysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2000
The perilipins are the most abundant proteins at the surfaces of lipid droplets in adipocytes and are also found in steroidogenic cells. To investigate perilipin function, perilipin A, the predominant isoform, was ectopically expressed in fibroblastic 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes that normally lack the perilipins.

Evidence for regulated monoacylglycerol acyltransferase expression and activity in human liver

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2012
Intrahepatic lipid accumulation is extremely common in obese subjects and is associated with the development of insulin resistance and diabetes. Hepatic diacylglycerol and triacylglycerol synthesis predominantly occurs through acylation of glycerol-3 ...

Circulating lipids in men with type 2 diabetes following 3 days on a carbohydrate‐free diet versus 3 days of fasting

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2020
Objective We have been interested in determining the effects of dietary changes on fuel metabolism and regulation in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Suppression of the SUGAR-DEPENDENT1 triacylglycerol lipase family during seed development enhances oil yield in oilseed rape (Brassica napus L) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Increasing the productivity of oilseed crops is an important challenge for plant breeders and biotechnologists. To date, attempts to increase oil production in seeds via metabolic pathway engineering have focused on boosting synthetic capacity.

Chloroplasts Isolation from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii under Nitrogen Stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Triacylglycerols are produced in abundance through chloroplast and endoplasmic reticulum pathways in some microalgae exposed to stress, though the relative contribution of either pathway remains elusive.

Triacylglycerols in Dairy Foods

open access: yes, 2021
Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are the major component of milk fat, accounting for 97%–98% of the total lipids. Their composition is extremely complex due to the many different fatty acids (FAs) that can be esterified in the three positions on the L-glycerol molecule, which leads to the formation of a large number of TAG regiospecific and stereospecific ...

Methods for the analysis of triacylglycerols

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1995
This article discusses the methods most commonly employed in the analysis of the triacylglycerols (TAGs) in natural fats and considers the main advantages and disadvantages of each and the techniques for optimising analytical conditions. Complete analysis of the composition of a natural fat calls for a method of extracting and purifying the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
