Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

A Synergistic Genetic Engineering Strategy Induced Triacylglycerol Accumulation in Potato (Solanum tuberosum) Leaf

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Potato is the 4th largest staple food in the world currently. As a high biomass crop, potato harbors excellent potential to produce energy-rich compounds such as triacylglycerol as a valuable co-product. We have previously reported that transgenic potato

Human Brain Lipidomics: Investigation of Formalin Fixed Brains

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2022
Human brain lipidomics have elucidated structural lipids and lipid signal transduction pathways in neurologic diseases. Such studies have traditionally sourced tissue exclusively from brain bank biorepositories, however, limited inventories signal that ...

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

Deficiency of MGAT2 increases energy expenditure without high-fat feeding and protects genetically obese mice from excessive weight gain

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2011
Acyl CoA:monoacylglycerol acyltransferase 2 (MGAT2) is thought to be crucial for dietary fat absorption. Indeed, mice lacking the enzyme (Mogat2−/−) are resistant to obesity and other metabolic disorders induced by high-fat feeding.

Higher Genetically Predicted Triglycerides, LDL, and HDL Increase the Vitamin D Deficiency: A Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2022
IntroductionIt has been proven that high body mass index (BMI) levels can cause vitamin D deficiency, but the mechanism is still unclear. Therefore, this study attempts to explain this phenomenon from the perspective of blood lipid by using mendelian ...

Cytological and transcript analyses reveal fat and lazy persister-like bacilli in tuberculous sputum

open access: yes, 2008
BackgroundTuberculous sputum provides a sample of bacilli that must be eliminated by chemotherapy and that may go on to transmit infection. A preliminary observation that Mycobacterium tuberculosis cells contain triacylglycerol lipid bodies in sputum ...

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

Functional analysis of the missense APOC3 mutation Ala23Thr associated with human hypotriglyceridemia

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2010
We have shown that expression of apolipoprotein (apo) C-III promotes VLDL secretion from transfected McA-RH7777 cells under lipid-rich conditions. To determine structural elements within apoC-III that confer to this function, we contrasted wild-type apoC-
