Diagnostic Methods for and Clinical Pictures of Polyomavirus Primary Infections in Children, Finland [PDF]
We used comprehensive serodiagnostic methods (IgM, IgG, and IgG avidity) and PCR to study Merkel cell polyomavirus and trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated polyomavirus infections in children observed from infancy to adolescence. Comparing seroconversion

Age-Specific Seroprevalences of Merkel Cell Polyomavirus, Human Polyomaviruses 6, 7, and 9, and Trichodysplasia Spinulosa-Associated Polyomavirus [PDF]
ABSTRACTSix new human polyomaviruses have been identified since 2008 (Merkel cell polyomavirus [MCPyV], human polyomavirus 6 [HPyV6], HPyV7, HPyV9, trichodysplasia spinulosa polyomavirus [TSPyV], and Malawi polyomavirus [MWPyV]). The presence of specific antibodies against MCPyV, HPyV6, HPyV7, HPyV9, and TSPyV in 828 Italian subjects aged 1 to 100 ...

Trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated polyomavirus (TSV) and Merkel cell polyomavirus: correlation between humoral and cellular immunity stronger with TSV. [PDF]
Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV) is a common infectious agent likely to be involved in the pathogenesis of most Merkel cell carcinomas (MCC). Trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated polyomavirus (TSV), which exhibit high seroprevalence in general population ...

SummaryTrichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare skin disease, caused by a specific polyomavirus, occurring in immunocompromised patients. The pathophysiological mechanisms of TS are not yet fully understood. By using polymerase chain reaction and skin biopsy immunostaining we report evidence, in a paediatric case, of follicular keratinocytes being the ...

AbstractTrichodysplasia spinulosa is a rare polyomavirus‐associated cutaneous eruption occurring in the setting of immunosuppression. Clinically it is characterised by multiple centrofacial folliculocentric papules with spinous protuberances. The histopathology is distinct and treatment with antiviral agents appears to be the most effective.

Structural Basis and Evolution of Glycan Receptor Specificities within the Polyomavirus Family
Asymptomatic infections with polyomaviruses in humans are common, but these small viruses can cause severe diseases in immunocompromised hosts. New Jersey polyomavirus (NJPyV) was identified via a muscle biopsy in an organ transplant recipient with ...

Evaluation of Trichodysplasia Spinulosa-Associated Polyomavirus Capsid Protein as a New Carrier for Construction of Chimeric Virus-Like Particles Harboring Foreign Epitopes [PDF]
Recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) represent a promising tool for protein engineering. Recently, trichodysplasia spinulosa-associated polyomavirus (TSPyV) viral protein 1 (VP1) was efficiently produced in yeast expression system and shown to self ...

Management of Trichodysplasia Spinulosa in a Pediatric Kidney Transplant Patient With Topical Cidofovir and Oral Leflunomide. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background This case report describes a 10‐year‐old male with a history of kidney transplantation who developed trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS), a rare skin disorder associated with immunosuppression. Methods The patient's condition, characterized by follicular papules and keratinous spines primarily on the face, was managed by a ...

Trichodysplasia spinulosa: a comprehensive review of the disease and its treatment. [PDF]
Abstract Trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare dermatological disease caused by TS‐associated polyomavirus (TSPyV) in immunosuppressed patients. The seroprevalence of TSPyV in immunocompetent adults is high and the number of immunosuppressed patients developing TS remains low, suggesting that TS is underdiagnosed and/or that additional unknown ...
