Steady-state neutrophil homeostasis is dependent on TLR4/TRIF signaling [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2013
Key Points Steady-state and emergency granulopoiesis are both dependent on TLR signaling.

TRIF is a regulator of TLR2-induced foam cell formation

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2016
The activation of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) stimulates foam cell formation, which is a key early event in the process of atherosclerosis. In the present study, the role of toll/interleukin-1 receptor-domain-containing adaptor-inducing interferon-β (TRIF) in TLR2-mediated foam cell formation was investigated, and the importance of monocyte ...

Exacerbation of Allergen-Induced Eczema in TLR4- and TRIF-Deficient Mice [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2013
Abstract Despite its presence on resident skin cells, the role of TLR4 in skin diseases remains poorly understood. This is highly significant because the skin biome is rich with potential TLR4 agonists. We aimed to establish the contribution of TLR4 to atopic dermatitis and determine the mechanism by which TLR4 acts in an experimental ...

Poly(I:C)‐Activated Nasal Fibroblasts Promote Eosinophil Recruitment in CRSwNP

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is characterized by persistent mucosal inflammation and eosinophilic infiltration. Although epithelial and immune cells have been widely studied, the role of nasal fibroblasts in innate immune activation and eosinophil recruitment remains unclear.

Sepsis Induces Hematopoietic Stem Cell Exhaustion and Myelosuppression through Distinct Contributions of TRIF and MYD88

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2016
Summary: Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) plays a central role in host responses to bacterial infection, but the precise mechanism(s) by which its downstream signaling components coordinate the bone marrow response to sepsis is poorly understood.

The coxsackievirus B 3C protease cleaves MAVS and TRIF to attenuate host type I interferon and apoptotic signaling. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2011
The host innate immune response to viral infections often involves the activation of parallel pattern recognition receptor (PRR) pathways that converge on the induction of type I interferons (IFNs).

TRIM38 induces TRIF degradation through proteasomal pathway.

open access: yes, 2012
(A) Overexpression of TRIM38 does not affect endogenous TRIF mRNA expression. HeLa cells were transfected with increasing amounts of a TRIM38-Flag plasmid (0, 0.5, and 2 µg).

Construction and evaluation of a chronic arthritis animal model induced by persistent activation of toll‐like receptors via lipopolysaccharide stimulation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
We constructed a novel systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis mouse model (LC) by introducing sustained TLR4 activation into the collagen‐induced arthritis model. The LC model effectively recapitulates human sJIA‐like systemic inflammation while revealing a critical dissociation between systemic immune activation and joint damage.

Vaccinia virus protein A46R targets multiple Toll-like-interleukin-1 receptor adaptors and contributes to virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Viral immune evasion strategies target key aspects of the host antiviral response. Recently, it has been recognized that Toll-like receptors (TLRs) have a role in innate defense against viruses.

Toll-like receptor 4 pathway evolutionary trajectory and functional emergence

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionToll-like receptors 4 (TLR4) recognize lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from bacteria as their conventional ligands and undergo downstream signaling to produce cytokines.
