Rapid Remodeling of the Human Gut Microbiome in Response to Short‐Term Animal Product Restriction and Associations with Host Molecular Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐world model of structured animal product restriction practiced for religious reasons reveals the dynamic adaptability of the human gut microbiome to dietary change and uncovers reductions in diversity and rare taxa loss. Integrated microbiome, metabolomic, and proteomic analyses uncover coordinated taxonomic and molecular shifts and identify ...

Nanocurvature‐Activated Dipolar Polarization in M–N4 Single‐Atom Sites for High‐Performance Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Increasing nanocurvature effectively enriches the local electron density of the M–N4 motif, which facilitates electron transfer from the metal center to nitrogen atoms. This electronic behavior intensifies the localization and asymmetric distribution of charge, thereby significantly amplifying the dipole moment and polarizability.

Isolation and Characterization of the Trimethylamine (TMA)-Degrading Microbacterium lacticum Strain PM-1

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Trimethylamine (TMA) is a common malodorous pollutant known for its detrimental effects on both the natural environment and human health. In this study, strain PM-1 was successfully isolated from activated sludge in a sewage treatment plant and ...

Impacts of pH and Base Substitution during Deaerator Treatments of Herring Milt Hydrolysate on the Odorous Content and the Antioxidant Activity

open access: yesFoods, 2022
Despite the biological interest in herring milt hydrolysate (HMH), its valorization is limited by its unpleasant odor resulting from the presence of mainly amine and carbonyl compounds.

Dynamic Regulation of Supramolecular Chirality in an Amphiphilic Dimeric Macrocycle Through Azobenzene‐Based Photoisomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stimuli‐responsive supramolecular system has been rationally designed enabling hierarchical control over supramolecular handedness. This hybrid architecture retains orthogonal host‐guest properties and displays unique amphiphilicity‐directed chiral self‐assembly.

Quantification of Trimethylamine-N-Oxide and Trimethylamine in Fish Oils for Human Consumption

open access: yesMolecules
Supplementing fish oil is one of the strategies to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death around the world. Contradictorily, fish oil may also contain trimethylamine-N-oxide, a recently emerged risk factor for ...

Removal of Fish Odors Form Styrofoam Packaging to Improve Recycling Potential Using Hansen Solubility Parameters

open access: yesRecycling, 2020
Styrofoam fish containers (fish boxes) are ideal for transporting fresh fish because of their light weight and insulation properties. However, due to fish-like odors, fish boxes are simply thrown out after use and are limited to low-grade recycling in ...

From heart failure and kidney dysfunction to cardiorenal syndrome: TMAO may be a bridge

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2023
The study of trimethylamine oxide (TMAO), a metabolite of gut microbiota, and heart failure and chronic kidney disease has made preliminary achievements and been summarized by many researchers, but its research in the field of cardiorenal syndrome is ...

A gas-liquid solid phase peptide and protein sequenator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A new miniaturized protein and peptide sequenator has been constructed which uses gas phase reagents at the coupling and cleavage steps of the Edman degradation. The sample is embedded in a matrix of Polybrene dried onto a porous glass fiber disc located
