Maternal Chrono‐Nutrition and Placental DNA Methylation: The BiSC Study

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
This is the first study to examine how the timing of a mother's meals during pregnancy relates to changes in placental DNA methylation, an epigenetic mark. We found that the timing of the last daily meal was most important. Some epigenetic changes were linked to genes involved in placental function and development, and the long‐term health consequences

Characteristics of Exosomes and Microbiota in the Decidua of Patients With Early Pregnancy Loss and Their Impact on Trophoblast Cells

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 93, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Early pregnancy loss (EPL) is a common complication with incompletely understood pathogenesis. Recent studies highlight the roles of exosomes and their miRNAs in intercellular communication, and the influence of uterine decidual microbiota on pregnancy outcomes.

Congenital CMV Infection: Determination of Transplacental Passage of Aciclovir by Ex Vivo Placental Perfusion

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 6, Page 1241-1248, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To quantify the transplacental transfer of aciclovir at an amount equivalent to 2 g of valaciclovir corresponding to the fractionated dosing regimen given four times daily used to reduce congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) transmission and to treat the CMV‐infected fetus. Design Experimental ex vivo study.

Age‐Dependent Alterations of Chromosomal Passenger Complex Members During Implantation and Decidualization in the Mouse Uterus

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Aging in females reduces the number of implantation sites and leads to specific, compartment‐dependent changes in components of the chromosomal passenger complex (pIncenp, Aurora B, Survivin, Borealin) during mouse uterine implantation and decidualization.

Outcomes from blind versus ultrasound‐guided uterine evacuation: A retrospective cohort analysis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 827-835, May 2026.
There were low complication rates for blind and ultrasound‐guided uterine evacuations. However, ultrasound guidance was utilized for higher risk cases and significantly reduced the volume of retained tissue in complicated cases. The use of ultrasound guidance by doctors and sonographers for uterine evacuation is a compelling choice where available ...
