Phylogenetic analysis of the trypanosomatid parasite Lotmaria passim in honey bees (Apis mellifera) in Poland

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research
Lotmaria passim (L. passim) is a single-celled flagellate which colonises the bee gastrointestinal tract and is highly prevalent in honey bees. This parasite is associated with colony losses.

Levantamento da fauna de Triatominae (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) em ambiente domiciliar e infecção natural por Trypanosomatidae no Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul Survey of Triatominae (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) fauna in domestic environments and natural infection by Trypanosomatidae in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul

Natural Infection by Toscana Virus and Other Phleboviruses in Wild Sand Flies From Spain: Prevalence, Genetic Characterization and Tripartite Interactions With Leishmania infantum and Wolbachia

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Toscana virus (TOSV) and Leishmania species are sand fly‐borne pathogens that pose a significant public health threat and an increasing risk of exposure in Europe. The objective of this study was to identify the phleboviruses circulating in an area endemic for sand fly‐borne pathogens and to estimate infection prevalence in wild ...

Assessment of the Performance of Indirect Immunofluorescence Assay for Chagas Disease in Dogs Using a Reference Panel of Four Chimeric Proteins

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
We evaluated the performance of an indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) assay for detecting anti‐Trypanosoma cruzi IgG in dogs using four chimeric IBMP antigens and latent class analysis. The IIF assay showed suboptimal sensitivity and overall accuracy compared to ELISA and LCA‐based methods.

Ubiquitin genes in trypanosomatidae.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1988
A ubiquitin encoding cDNA from Trypanosoma cruzi, the protozoan cause of Chagas' disease, was isolated by immunoscreening a lambda gt11 expression library with serum from a mouse chronically infected with this parasite. The cDNA encodes a precursor protein consisting of four tandem repeats of ubiquitin differing from that of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in

Pyridyl‐Thiazole‐Thiosemicarbazones as Antitrypanosomatidae Agents: Design, Synthesis, and In Silico Profiling

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 16, 27 August 2026.
A novel pyridine–thiazole derivative, Compound 8, exhibited potent dual antitrypanosomatid activity. It demonstrated remarkable in vitro efficacy against Trypanosoma cruzi (IC50 = 1.0 µM) and L. amazonensis (IC50 = 3.9 µM). Molecular docking studies suggested interactions with heme and multiple molecular targets.

Synthesis, Electrochemistry, In Vitro Antiprotozoal Efficacy and Mechanistic Study of Novel ‘Ferrantoin’ and Related Derivatives

open access: yesApplied Organometallic Chemistry, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
1,2‐Disubstituted ferrocene analogues bearing hydantoin or rhodanine synthons were synthesised and assessed for antitrypanosomatid activity. An antileishmanial early lead, analogue 23, acting through ROS generation and hence oxidative stress, was uncovered.

Potential vectors of Leishmaniases in the Environmental Protection Area and Tinguá Federal Biological Reserve, Municipality of Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 246-259, June 2026.
This study was to describe the composition of sand fly fauna, detect potential vectors of Leishmania spp. in the Tinguá district, an ATL endemic, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Seven species of vectorial importance in the epidemiological cycle of leishmaniasis was observed: Nyssomyia intermedia, Migonemyia migonei, Pintomyia fischeri, Psychodopygus hirsutus ...
