Effects of Secreted Mast Cell Mediators on Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells: Focus on Mast Cell Tryptase

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2017
Numerous mast cells are present in the choroid, but the effects of mast cell mediators on retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells are not well understood.

mMCP7, a Mouse Ortholog of δ Tryptase, Mediates Pelvic Tactile Allodynia in a Model of Chronic Pelvic Pain

open access: yesFrontiers in Pain Research, 2022
Chronic prostatitis/Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a condition that affects a large number of men and has unknown etiology. We have previously demonstrated the presence of elevated levels of mast cell tryptase in expressed prostatic secretions

Tryptase Is Not Cleared by the Kidneys into the Urine [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2009
Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease have been reported to have increased concentrations of blood tryptase. Detection of tryptase in the urine of healthy subjects has been reported. Objective: The objective is to determine whether tryptase is indeed cleared by the kidneys.

Nasal Airway Transcriptome Reflects Selected Asthma‐Associated Gene Signatures in the Lower Airways

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Seven genes and two gene modules were consistently associated with asthma in both airway compartments in ARMS and were validated in ATLANTIS. The two modules reflected IL‐13 related inflammation and mast cell activity, respectively. Nasal gene signatures provide a non‐invasive proxy for selected bronchial asthma‐associated gene signatures. ARMS, Asthma

Safety of Venom Immunotherapy in Pregnancy: A Multicentre Study

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Venom immunotherapy (VIT) during pregnancy, when maintenance dose is well tolerated, can be continued. No increased risk of adverse effects to VIT or safety concerns for the pregnancy or the newborns were observed. No decreased efficacy of VIT, in case of re‐stings, was reported.

Protective role of protease-activated receptor-2 in anaphylaxis model mice.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Anaphylaxis is a severe life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction induced by mast cell degranulation. Among the various mediators of mast cells, little is known about the role of tryptase. Therefore, we aimed to elucidate the role of protease-activating
