Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Modeling of Platelet Responses to Recombinant ADAMTS13 in Patients With Congenital Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Congenital thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (cTTP) is an ultra‐rare, life‐threatening thrombotic microangiopathy caused by a severe inherited deficiency of ADAMTS13, a von Willebrand factor (VWF) cleaving enzyme. Inadequate clinical endpoint data often make it challenging to statistically power clinical trials in ultra‐rare diseases ...

Functional Electrolyte Additives: A Pinch of Salt/Solvent to an Electrolyte for High Energy Density Lithium‐Ion and Lithium–Metal Batteries

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Electrolytes, often termed as the “blood” of battery play a decisive role in determining their performance metrics. This review thoroughly analyzes the role of functional electrolyte additives improving the performance and safety of Li‐ion/Li–metal batteries involving film formation, overcharge control, wide temperature and voltage operation ...

Prognostic value of contrast‐enhanced ultrasound in dogs with acute renal injury treated with haemodialysis

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 196, Issue 6, 15/22 March 2025.
Abstract Background It is clinically relevant to predict outcomes in dogs with acute kidney injury (AKI) treated with haemodialysis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of contrast‐enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and its role in discriminating between AKI and acute impairment associated with chronic kidney disease (AKI/CKD).

Re-thinking the role of intellectual property in nano-strategy

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2012
In two past studies we observed and analyzed a group of European new and adolescent ventures, looking in particular at how they were about exploiting nanotechnology-based business opportunities, what was the role of intellectual property rights (IPRs ...

Season of birth and variations in male reproductive health: A population‐based cohort study

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Season of birth has been associated with various later reproductive health outcomes in women, but little is known on the potential associations in men. Objectives To investigate the association between season of birth and semen characteristics, testes volume and reproductive hormone levels in young men.

Compartmentalisation in cAMP signalling: A phase separation perspective

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cells rely on precise spatiotemporal control of signalling pathways to ensure functional specificity. The compartmentalisation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and protein kinase A (PKA) signalling enables distinct cellular responses within a crowded cytoplasmic space.

Partial starch substitution with resistant starch lowers postprandial glucose and glycaemic variability in people with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Approximately 40% of the caloric intake of the UK diet consists of starch. Most of which is readily digestible, thereby raising blood glucose. However, resistant starch (RS) evades metabolism in the small intestine, and in healthy adults, partial substitution of the diet with RS lowers postprandial glycaemia.
