An atlas of the developing Tribolium castaneum brain reveals conservation in anatomy and divergence in timing to Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 530, Issue 13, Page 2335-2371, September 2022., 2022
We examined the developing brain of the beetle Tribolium castaneum. We determined tracts, fascicles, and compartments (a) by combining tubulin and synapsin stainings (b) in three developing stages (b’). The result is a comprehensive anatomical atlas (c) that was compared with the fruitfly and is provided for user‐friendly interaction (d).

Distribution of neurogranin‐like immunoreactivity in the brain and sensory organs of the adult zebrafish

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 530, Issue 10, Page 1569-1587, July 2022., 2022
The expression and distribution of mammalian neurogranin‐like peptides were studied in the brain and sensory organs of adult zebrafish by means of immunocytochemical methods. Results indicate the relation of these neuropeptides with primary and highly integrative centers and suggest a divergent evolution in teleosts.

Mineral content analysis in the rib cross‐sections of Homo sapiens and Pan troglodytes and its implications for the study of Sts 14 costal remains

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 177, Issue 4, Page 784-791, April 2022., 2022
Abstract Introduction From an evolutionary perspective, the ribcage has changed substantially in the subfamily Homininae. Among many other features, the amount of mineralized tissues of the rib cross‐section at the midshaft could be informative about potential biomechanical changes during Homininae evolution.
