A Chemically Defined Four‐Component Self‐Adjuvanting Tn Vaccine Activating Mincle, FcγR, and CD206 for Enhanced Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic four‐component vaccine has been developed combining Tn antigen, vizantin (Mincle agonist), rhamnose (antibody recruitment), and mannose (CD206 targeting). By synergistically activating Mincle, FcγR, and CD206 pathways, it elicits strong IgG switching and cytotoxic T‐cells, significantly inhibiting tumors in mice.

Tumor-Associated Extracellular Microvesicles with Fluorine-Modified Carbohydrate Antigens Trigger a Stronger Antitumor Immune Response

open access: yes
Abnormal glycosylation is a hallmark of tumor development, and tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens are potential immune targets for tumor therapy. Tumor-associated extracellular microvesicles are subcellular vesicles released from cell membranes that ...

Pancreatic Atrophy: A Narrative Review and Surgical Interpretation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Pancreatic parenchymal atrophy pattern and intraoperative margin assessment guide surgical strategy. ABSTRACT Despite recent advances in multimodal management, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a fatal malignancy. Early detection of indirect findings of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is essential to improve treatment outcomes, drawing ...

Therapeutic Antibodies to Ganglioside GD2 Evolved from Highly Selective Germline Antibodies

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Antibodies play a crucial role in host defense and are indispensable research tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Antibody generation involves binding of genomically encoded germline antibodies followed by somatic hypermutation and in vivo selection to

Predicting the Efficacy of Adjuvant Chemotherapy Using Immuno‐Nutritional and Inflammatory Markers in Elderly Patients With Stage III Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine whether immuno‐nutritional and inflammatory markers could serve as predictors of the outcomes of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colorectal cancer in elderly patients. Postoperative lymphocyte‐to‐monocyte ratio and postoperative C‐reactive protein‐to‐albumin ratio accurately predicted the efficacy of ...

Niosomes as Biocompatible Scaffolds for the Multivalent Presentation of Tumor-Associated Antigens (TACAs) to the Immune System

open access: yes, 2022
Fully synthetic tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen (TACA)-based vaccines are a promising strategy to treat cancer. To overcome the intrinsic low immunogenicity of TACAs, the choice of the antigens’ analogues and multivalent presentation have been ...

Molecular mechanism of ischemic postconditioning in promoting diabetic ischemic brain injury repair via the microRNA‐34a–BDNF–SIX3 signaling axis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Diabetes combined with ischemic stroke (DMIS) exacerbates brain infarct size and neuronal damage compared to nondiabetic ischemic stroke (IS). This study reveals that microRNA‐34a (miR‐34a) plays a key role in DMIS pathogenesis: miR‐34a directly targets and suppresses brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and Sine oculis homeobox 3 (SIX3), promoting

Development of Clickable Monophosphoryl Lipid A Derivatives toward Semisynthetic Conjugates with Tumor-Associated Carbohydrate Antigens

open access: yes, 2017
A semisynthetic strategy to obtain monophosphoryl lipid A derivatives equipped with clickable (azide, alkyne, double bond, or thiol precursor) moieties, starting from the native lipid A isolated from Escherichia coli, is presented.

Exploring the immunology of parasitism--from surface antigens to the hygiene hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Helminth immunology is a field which has changed beyond recognition in the past 30 years, transformed not only by new technologies from cDNA cloning to flow cytometry, but also conceptually as our definition of host immune pathways has matured.
