MUC1 as a Survival Effector of Radiotherapy‐Induced Epithelial Hybrid States in Basal‐Like Breast Cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Basal‐like breast cancer (BLBC) is aggressive and often exhibits inherent or acquired resistance to radiotherapy (RT), a primary treatment option. RT resistance is underpinned by molecular alterations, many of which are poorly understood. Here, RT‐induced transcriptomic changes were analyzed using bulk and spatial sequencing in a BLBC mouse model and ...

The Endocrine Disrupting Compounds Bisphenol‐A and α‐Zeranol Mimic the Estrogen Transcriptional Program to Promote Proliferation and Stemness in Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excessive activation of the estrogen receptor (ER) drives proliferation, progression, and the formation of breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) in ER‐positive breast cancer. Estrogenic endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) found in plastics, water, and food are also able to bind to the ER.

A lignan from Alnus japonica inhibits glioblastoma tumorspheres by suppression of FOXM1

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Abstract Forkhead Box M1 (FOXM1) is known to regulate cell proliferation, apoptosis and tumorigenesis. The lignan, (−)-(2R,3R)-1,4-O-diferuloylsecoisolariciresinol (DFS), from Alnus japonica has shown anti-cancer effects against colon cancer cells by suppressing FOXM1.

High-Throughput Method for Automated Colony and Cell Counting by Digital Image Analysis Based on Edge Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Counting cells and colonies is an integral part of high-throughput screens and quantitative cellular assays. Due to its subjective and time-intensive nature, manual counting has hindered the adoption of cellular assays such as tumor spheroid formation in

Urologic Bacteriome: The Hero or the Villain in Prostate Cancer Onset, Progression, and Treatment?

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men worldwide and the fifth leading cause of cancer‐related mortality, presenting urgent unmet clinical needs in diagnosis and treatment. The recognition of the microbiome as a key factor in human health has prompted numerous studies, revealing an exciting new approach to ...

The Z-cad dual fluorescent sensor detects dynamic changes between the epithelial and mesenchymal cellular states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Z-cad sensor loses GFP expression early and gains RFP expression later upon miR-200c induction. All collected time points for time-lapse microscopy (from Fig. 1c) of identical grids within cell culture plate are shown for each treatment group.

NIBAN2/FLII/RREB1 Axis Drives Glioma Stem Cell Malignancy via TLR3 Pathway Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
NIBAN2, highly expressed in glioma stem‐like cells (GSCs), assembles with FLII and transcription factor RREB1 to form a nuclear complex. This complex transcriptionally activates stemness‐associated genes (e.g., CD44, NANOG) and metabolic enzymes (e.g., LDHA), thereby sustaining both transcriptional and metabolic stemness programs.

Simultaneous targeting of Eph receptors in glioblastoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Eph tyrosine kinase receptors are frequently overexpressed and functional in many cancers, and they are attractive candidates for targeted therapy. Here, we analyzed the expression of Eph receptor A3, one of the most up-regulated factors in glioblastoma ...

Garcinone C Suppresses Cancer Stem Cells and Induces Apoptosis in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Through Canonical Wnt Signaling

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Garcinone C (Gar. C), a xanthone derived from mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), suppresses triple‐negative breast cancer growth and stemness by inducing mitochondrial‐mediated apoptosis and inhibiting the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway, highlighting its potential as a natural compound for the prevention and treatment TNBC.

Characterization of CD44 intracellular domain interaction with RUNX2 in PC3 human prostate cancer cells

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2019
Background Expression of CD44 receptor is associated with the onset of several tumors. The intracellular domain of CD44 (CD44-ICD) has been implicated as a co-transcription factor for RUNX2 in the regulation of expression of MMP-9 in breast carcinoma ...
