Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Type 2 airway inflammation in COPD

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal
Globally, nearly 400 million persons have COPD, and COPD is one of the leading causes of hospitalisation and mortality across the world. While it has been long-recognised that COPD is an inflammatory lung disease, dissimilar to asthma, type 2 inflammation was thought to play a minor role.

Regulation of type 2 inflammation by type I interferons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Rhinovirus-induced asthma exacerbations are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients. Experimental clinical infection studies indicate rhinovirus augments type 2 inflammation in asthma. Additionally, asthmatic lung cells have impaired type I interferon production in response to rhinovirus stimulation. Evidence suggests co-regulation of type

Inflammation and type 2 diabetes

Diabetes & Metabolism, 2012
Low-grade inflammation is a common feature in subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Heart disease, the metabolic syndrome and T2D all have in common the increased concentration of circulatory cytokines as a result of inflammation. Inflammatory cytokines are produced by different cell types and secreted into the circulation, where they regulate different

The emerging role of type 2 inflammation in asthma

Expert Review of Clinical Immunology, 2020
Introduction: Bronchial asthma (BA) is a chronic airways inflammatory disease. Based on the biological mechanisms that underline the disease, asthma has been classified as type 2 or non-type 2 phenotype.Areas covered: An emerging role has been identified for group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) able to produce the classical type 2 cytokines.
